As i said, go back and read my posts, it's very clear how i feel about the situation. Your reply shows me you still have not understood my position and i don't think it's possible to put it any simpler than i already have. So i shall just refer you back to my previous points as they will answer anything your saying.

And a little bit of advice for you: read through entire posts before you reply, otherwise you just end up looking stupid. The quote you have decided to focus on was followed in the next sentence by "However i am not pleased that we haven't won anything for so long and that at the moment we are not even in the title race"

Finishing in the top four full stop ain't good enough, SIMPLE.

Either start winning things, or look like a team that's capable of winning things, and that's what will make me and many others happy. :).

At the moment we don't look like either of those things, nor do we even look like a team capable of ending in the top 4! Only reason we may end in the top 4 isn't going to be down to how good we are, but because other teams will just drop off because their squads aren't adequate enough to help them make it all the way to top 4.

I wonder how many fans would kill for such a luxury of being in the UCL every year?

You cannot be serious Arsenal87. NO club has a right to trophies and glory. It's obviously what we want but that shouldn't be criteria for sustained support. Do you really call cheering on a team like man city and Chelsea, support?
We are going through a difficult time and this is when true support comes to the fore. If you can't handle that than you have every right to drop your backing but that's just boring!

This is a false comparison, and here is why, if we're talking about a lower club that wishes to be in the UCL, they would kill for it, BUT, if that same club moved up the ranks, improved their standards, where UCL became a common thing every year, then they'd start viewing things much differently, and wouldn't simply settle on saying oh hurrraaaaaaaaa we qualified for the UCL again, let's all dance now.

Arsenal are a massive club, simply qualifying for UCL and getting into the top 4 is a FORMALITY and should be a FORMALITY for a club like ours, just as it is for United, and Madrid and Barca and Bayern and you name it, so our standards are much higher so it's just false to compare and say oh but Burnely would wish to be in your position, it's 2 completely different worlds.

I didn't simply say we have to only win, I said we also have to CHALLENGE, we didn't win in 2008, but I was very happy because that team was AMAZING, it challenged greatly, and played some of the best football, I called that a REAL ARSENAL side, finally we were back.

United don't win every year, but they're still right up there, that's the point I'm making. We are a top team, and should start playing like a top team, we should start winning things again, and challenging, not scrapping for 4th spot amongst the likes of Spurs, Everton, West Brom, and Newcastle.

As for supporting the team, I go to all homes games, and will be there on Saturday, but at the same time, if they fall below standards, I'm going to make sure, that as a paying fan, who pays the highest season ticket amongst any other clubs, that it's not good enough.

Do you even read what you write yourself, let alone what other people write?

All of us are in agreement that we want to be looking like a team at least challenging for the top honors. No-one has said anything different to this. It's just some of us appreciate what we currently have. I really don't understand why you can't grasp this concept, your like an anrgy child who didn't get the right game for Christmas..

And your second point makes no sense at all, if other teams drop away from the top 4 due to not having squads capable of challenging for it and we finish 4th then that would prove we were better equiped to get top 4 than them. How is that down to others failures rather than how good we are? I don't get what your trying to prove with that point? I agree, i don't think other teams have squads capable of getting a top 4 finish, we do, thus we are better than them.

I think if you could just realise that actually all of us fans want us to be competiting to win, but we appreciate what we've got, you'd be a much happeir and less argumentative person :p

You're right, invalid comparison. We actually managed to beat Everton. <ok>

I even agree with what your saying about us looking like real challengers - up until last season we have genuinely looked like we could win top silverware every year, though some years we dropped away and had to settle for a top 4 spot. We were always right in the mix.

Last season was a tough one due to the changes to the team and attitude surrounding the club at the start of the season. We didn't play to the same level we have done previously and we were never in the title run, we where fighting for a top 4 finish. Normally i think people would have been really pissed off with this, but considering the circumstances and the fact we finished 3rd in the end people still felt ok come the end of the season. And some season highlights including some great come back games, RVP's quality goals and of course the return of Henry meant it was still an exciting season to be an Arsenal fan.

This season is a little different. We haven't played as poorly as we did last season at the start but find ourselves in a similar position in the table. I think overall the squad strength is better than it was last season, but we lack individual stars. Realistically for now we need to focus on getting back into the top 4 and then see if the title chase is still on. One game at a time. It's still far too early to judge how things will go this season and it's not worth getting as worked up over it as you seem to be getting! We could still win the quadruple ;)

Do you think that Arsenal are on par with United, Chelsea or City in size?

    @Treat Williams

I think that depends how you judge size - if your going on fanbase then yes, trophy collection - yes, stadium - yes, financial capability - not quite.

Yes siry I do, we were neck and neck with United for many years, and were even better than them for a while, but then we failed to build on like United often do, and instead moved backwards.

We better start sorting out our defence out and start winning some games or this " finishing 4th " debate wont be relevant.

11 games into the season ,over a quarter of the season gone , we have almost half the points of Manure.

Even West Brom and West ham are ahead of us.

If the rot isnt stopped there could be a disaster .

The spuds game is a must win .

This is the thing that really matters. Arsenal aren't a massive club financially compared to the current top three and probably never will be (especially City and Chelsea, who are freakishly lucky on this front), barring exceptional business acumen from the current board or an implosion at any other three, both of which are almost a complete lottery. We all know that Arsenal can't compete with these guys on money matters, so why are we surprised that the club falls behind them consistently?
