So you're great boast is that you aren't going to win the league just like us. Good luck polishing that one.
Just think at how high Everton climbed last year when they brought in Jelavic. Could we do the same thing if we bring in a prolofic striker? If so the boasting could be the other way round. Where were Everton on points total at about this time last year just out of curiosity? Same, little higher, little lower? Edit: Also bringing in Donovan and I think Pienaar? Made a world of difference to the side.
Their beloved David Moyes is the man that can get clubs in and out of europe in record time. Moyes in 2005, got Everton in and out of europe twice in a month. What do you expect when they are owned by an actor who played Betty Hotpots bastard son.
Of course the FA Cup can't be blamed, btw what's Everton's excuse for only finishing 4 points ahead of us with only one cup comp to contend with?
As I've always said. Everton would be happy with 19th and relegation if Liverpool were in 20th place. Small club mentality.
Do you ever wonder whether your fellow Liverpool supporters get tired of you turning every single one of their threads into a vitriolic tirade against something or someone associated with another football club?
Ironic comment that, given that you've posted it in a thread about a Liverpool manager lauding an above 8th finish as 'fantastic' Evertonians are generally quite pragmatic & we can appreciate that despite our frustrations at not being at English footballs top table these days, due to finanical contraints - this is not David Moyes fault, he copes with the cards he's been dealt. A £10M net spend in a decade of management during a time when cash has been King & bringing home consistent league finishes ( 4 top 6 & 3 top 8, in the last 8 years) is nothing less than superb, relatively speaking. Our anger is towards the owners not the manager, he's done a great job, a fact that most football fans would acknowledge
You're correct. 3 out of the 5 times Everton finished above us, they won the league. In 1970, 1985 and 1987. In 2005, they celebrated like they won the world cup when they finished 4th to our 5th, they even had an open top bus parade which drew a crowd of 10 people and a dog. It was eclipsed a week later when 1 million lined the streets to see Liverpool become owners of the European Cup, as five times European Champions.
Its actually true. You lot boasted about finishing above us in the league in 2005 when qualifying for the CL, when we WON the ****ing thing.
I think anyone not driven by anti-Everton bias would recognise what a good job Moyes has done given the financial resources he's had to work with.
Jose Mourinho won 3 Portugese titles and a UEFA Cup and the champions league with Porto with 1/4 of the money Moyes had. So don't give me that guff that Moyes is a pauper. He spent £24 million on Yakabu and Andy Johnson.
Well, I'm glad as Liverpool fans we don't think that accepting a perfectly logical timeframe for rebuilding a competitive squad without 200 million a year is "accepting mediocrity" We can continue "debating" whether the words used were the best but every real football fan as Tobes puts it knows what he meant and how long it will take to go from our team now to a truly competitive one. I have no proof of course but I do believe Brendan's finished product will finish easily above a team that's already hit its limiter. How far above, I honestly don't know.
