I don't agree that anything above 8th will be "fantastic" but understand the need for us to be patient with the team and manager, there are good signs with the way we are playing and the introduction of players from the academy is going well with more to come. Rodgers seems to understand that additional players are needed in January and we all agree. With the right players coming and going in January we should be looking higher than 8th as Europa Cup next season should be the minimum expectation imo. What are your minimum expectations?
I think if we don't get anyone prolific in January then we would do well to finish 8th or above, if we do get someone who can bang them in then we should be aiming for a higher finish IMO.
6th for me. If we had a good striker and still had Clarke to keep our defense tight I would say should be battling for 4th with Everton and Tottenham. Instead 6th for me and long run in the europa. I would prefer the Europa to the FA, get the name back out there that we can compete in these competitions.
Since when has been finishing 7th been 'fantastic' for Liverpool? He's surely dumbing down expectation with that? I can imagine the reaction if Roy had said that..............
I think 'fantastic' is the wrong word. Finishing no lower than last season is realistic. Top 6 would be optimistic.
Haven't we already had the "what Woy said..." conversation Toby? Yeah thought as much. It was what Woy served up football wise that was the issue along with his bringing in the likes of Poulsen and Konchesky who we could all see were **** buys. Thanks for your concerns though, nice to see your still obssessing about the Reds
A good season will be the final season of coronation street, eastenders and any other soap you care to mention
I never go of topic or ruin threads, you must be mistaking me for some other poster with less morals.
No but you are repeating yourself on multiple threads about the same thing. It would be ok if you were a Liverpool supporter but slightly sad that you want to "debate" the same point over and over about someone else's club. As for topic: Brendan's tendency to melodrama even when reading the restaurant menu aside: I expect improvement every year. I want that improvement to be measured in league position & cup finals. So; 8th last year? Minimum 7th this year. Obviously wont complain about any further up than that. I honestly can not see that being higher than 5th. The battle for 4th has been pants so far in regards to the usual suspects with the addition of an Everton doing very well. I expect them to still be there if key players stay injury free and I expect only improvement from the others so.... And quarters at very least in one of remaining cups. It will obviously depend on January transfer deals and or luck with injuries to current players.
I wasn't repeating myself, I was making a point relevant to the thread & using Hodgson as a direct comparable, he chose to reply, ignoring my point & focusing on the fact that I've 'dared' to mention Roy before. This is a football forum, it's multi club, if you don't want to read other clubs fans opinions why are you here? As for the rest of that, it appears that you agree with me, as you think that minimal improvement should be the minimum expectation & not viewed as 'fantastic'.
Before the kick-off of the new season, I felt that the owners would have to justify Kenny's sacking by demanding that top four and a trophy would be the minimum requirements. However, due to the departures that were insisted on for obvious reasons, and the lack of squad depth, those expectations for this season may have to be lowered. I still believe we can finish top four, as for the life of me, I cannot see any of our rivals being streets ahead of us. There is no stand-out candidate.
I was refering to our real rivals. Arsenal only have 4 points more than we do. Everton will fold faster than a bad poker player. They are unable to do it for a whole season.
