Nine Saints players have been called up this week! Now I know this is great recognition for the club but am I the only one who secretly wishes they would be passed over. last thing we need are players coming back tired or worse injured. Ramirez in particular is just back from injury and will no doubt play 90 mins in a pointless friendly. Do we need the disruption when we have a huge game on Saturday?
I agree, friendly games annoy me a great deal, pointless games that have no outcome and a waste of time and money. RVP when he was at Arsenal, he had a torrid time with injuries and I believe he got injured once or twice playing for the Netherlands soon after recovering from one. Dean Ashton is another, injured by SWP and was unable to play football again. I would hate for something like that to happen to one of our players.
Irritating but I guess it's part of the price you pay for being in the Prem and having decent players at all levels. Certainly for the youngsters it's great for their development. Hopefully there will be no injuries!
I don't think it will do Ramirez any harm at all to get some more match time under his belt, against pretty decent opposition as well. He needs game time, training pitch alone isn't going to cut it.......as long as he doesn't get hurt.
Tuesday 13th November, 7.30pm GMT kick-off JAMES WARD-PROWSE, CALUM CHAMBERS & JACK STEPHENS: ENGLAND U19S vs Finland U19s – Friendly, New Bucks Head (Telford, England) I thought these 3 had been re-called from this game?
Poland is bad enough though. Means he Mayuka and Yoshida don't get to train with the rest of the squad!
The short travel is the best part I'd say. I'd rather have the guys at home practicing what NA is preaching so we get 3 points this weekend. S Africa is quite a distance and Yoshida has a bit of a trip. Hope it does not affect his concentration for QPR.
Didn't we have a player a while ago where he was injured and then came back for one game, Then went on international duty and made it much worse, making him unplayable to us. Wasnt this player also supposed to be amazing.... sooooo Ramirez was just injured.... and he is going on international duty :/ LETS JUST HOPE THE SAME DOESNT HAPPEN.
Delgado did pretty well everywhere else... As for whether the call-ups are a good or a bad thing, it doesn't really matter. If you buy good players they will be called up. It's not something you can really avoid.
Annoyingly for all QPR's international "stars" none of them are going on international duty. Ryan Nelsen was in the New Zealand squad to play China but mysteriously got injured presumably only to miraculously return on Saturday...
As annoying as international friendlies are from a team point of view. They are good in getting players fit if they are just off peak fitness as well as giving them the opportunity to play at a decent level. Most players learn a lot from playing internationals. The downside is of course if they pick up a knock.......That as they say is the way the cookie crumbles.......
OfficialSaints on Twitter: "James Ward-Prowse and @jackstephens_18 start for England's Under-19s against Finland tonight, with @Chambo_321 on the bench. #saintsfc"
I think it was the U17 as Shaw was withdrawn which led to the correct assumption that he would play last Saturday
