What with Everton breaking their seemingly eternal trend of poor starts and incredible ends to the season, usually resulting in top 6-8 finishes, could we be the team to step into their shoes this season? We've definitely got the first half nailed on!

Everton used to have a good then crap season pattern.... this could also apply to us maybe if we don't hit the heights of last year.

The thing is, when Everton play ****, they lose games. When we play ****, we often get results, and that's why I think we're better than them, and we can finish higher.

If by this you mean we could click into gear and have a stronger end to the season, then yes we could "do an Everton".

I think I know how it feels to be an Everton fan... the way I celebrated their two goals against the Mackems almost had me screaming in a scouse accent! <cool>

This. Once Europa League quals are done, we will start to pull it back in. Inevitably, Cisse and Ba will work well together, Cabaye will perform, Colo, Perch and Tiote will return, Benny will score. I also think Pardew/NUFC are one of those clubs who look at January more than the Summer for getting players. I would be amazed if Debuchy wasn't in the stripes by Feb 1st, and I also think there's likely to be a Cisse-style signing as well to boost the ranks. I think the top 6 will be threatened again by NUFC and I have this sneaking suspicion that the Europa League is going to go quite well for us; we seem to have something that works in Europe, an ability to just not get beat.

It really depends on when we start playing better we are currently the worst footballing side in the league on the eye, however we doing well tio minimise the damage. If we start playing well we could win the next 4 and we could start thinking about top 7 but I'm not saying anything about that until I see some evidence we can do it.

Really? I personally thought West Ham looked worse than we did, and have most of the season. I don't think Stoke, Sunderland or Villa look that fabulous either and I'll take 10th over the positions of Southampton or Reading. Sunday, Shola & Ba should have scored, which changes the game, and in Ben Arfa we have arguably the nicest-on-the-eye player in the entire league. As Lawro said the other week, it's far harder to get points in the Premier League than we think - is it really easy to just rock up, defend well and scrape wins over Spurs, or come back from defeat to grab a point at Goodison?? If it is, why are there 10 teams below us?!

There's nothing to worry about at all. Last season, Arsenal were well below where we currently sit and finished 3rd. Sure, we won't, but it's stupid to write anything off. The top 3 were always going to be out of sight with the money they've got and that we're still within touching distance of Spurs, Arsenal and Everton despite having never really played this year is actually very positive. You think we're going to keep playing like this all season? Is Cisse going to keep doing this? I just don't get it - there's nothing to really worry about.

The points we gained at Eveton ( two goals not given)and Reading (handball goal) were due to refs giving them to us and whEther you like it or not that's a fact. We have been getting lucky points and that's been enough for some to paper over the cracks but not for me. I could see it coming and I'm saying it now- We will not win against Swansea.

You can put your predictions for the other 26 remaining fixtures now if you like. Only take a bit of cut and pasteing

I was going to ask why you bother commenting at all, or why you support NUFC, but it's more basic - why do you follow football?

Every person involved in the supporting of football and a team in particular goes into a game with that base hope that you can win. Whether it's Man U vs Crawley or Celtic vs Barcelona, it doesn't matter, you don't ever think, hope or express a view that you will lose the game. You then balance that with a sense of reality and just enjoy it, it's only an effing game. I felt crap after West Ham, but it passed and I'll look forward to pasting Swansea (or not, whatever) next time.

Maybe just help me understand why you bother posting this sort of crap?

Well the only reason we turned it round last year was because we signed Donovan (loan), Pienaar (loan), Gibson and Jelavic.

So I doubt you'll just turn it round as soon as January comes.

Ben Arfa and Ba have dragged us up the table by the metaphorical scrotum, and I reckon as soon as the others take responsibility for the load we'll be singing. Pardew needs to sort their heads out before the two aforementioned players develop a hernia, though!
