I was in Southern Ireland and saw lots of scraggy sheep. I asked if they were for meat or wool. I was told neither as they were kept just to get EU subsidies. The only thing that seemed to be happening in that part of Ireland was bungalow building. They were making a fortune from the property market...well that bubble has burst. A good house with half an acre has dropped from 365K to 185K and still not selling in only a few years. Subsidies should be given for real things (equipment, stock, land improvement)...allowing farmers to improve their situation not just to live off their subsidies.

Bureauocracy on the continent has always been inefficient and corrupt...they now just have more money to feather their nests.

Not for me either, just Red and White Stripes please, everything else can go. Obviously the Saints logo, the name and number on the back and may be the Club sponsor on the front, I want to see a football shirt, not a portable mural.

Exactly - what a two faced 'person'. Plenty of excellent Irish footballers have graced the English leagues over the years without resorting to this type of political garbage - just as plenty of Irish servicemen gave their lives in many wars fighting in British regiments and units.

I've just noticed loads of hyperlinks to the usual smelly sites contained within the text of the forum posts. I thought it might be my machine as I updated the security over the weekend but a system restore has not fixed it. Is anyone else seeing them or do I need to quarantine this PC ASAP!?

I did a couple of months ago, but I blocked all the offending locations with Adblock Plus (add-on for Firefox) and haven't had any problems since.

There are many problems with the way the EU operates, but the fundamental purpose of it and idea behind it are sound. Hence, rather than just complaining about it and wanting out, we should be taking a positive lead in shaping the union we would like to see in years, decades to come.

I support commemoration of the EU - not specifically the political institution of today, but the fundamental ideas of communication, cooperation and mutual support.

This argument is moronic. You can only choose to live and work somewhere where you agree with every single custom?

Answer my point about freedom please. Either you have it or you don't. What exactly are you advocating?

This argument is in no way moronic. Why is it moronic simply because you disagree ? The vast majority of people in this country will agree with Aberdeen Saints viewpoint imo.

Doesn't make them right just because they're the majority. People shouldn't have to abide by all our customs if they want to live here. I didn't even wear a poppy so I don't see why an Irishman should be expected to. As long as they don't break our laws, we shouldn't expect anything more from foreigners.
