He was able to bounce back from that skinning at Everton, show he has a pretty good mental capacity as well as the physical and footy aspects. Good to have JOhnson back as well. Sterling continues to grow as a player but worried about using him so much so young. Will he catch the bug that all quick players catch in when does he get those hamstring injuries? Hopefully not at all but we shall see.
They are on twitter with the anfield index. Thought when he got pushed forward he did much much better.
Remember he played in Russia on Thursday. Carragher did to. Which is impressive on his part. He had a good game today.
Good shout on Russia Can't help but think Coates must be feeling a bit pissed off seeing both Wisdom and Carragher selected ahead of him, make him fifth choice
I was rather pissed off that carra got the nod ahead of Coates but thankfully he did have a good game. Enrique was really good when he was pushed forward admittedly but he lost the ball so many times prior to that and it stood out hugely for me, Allen was exactly the same too - and this is what his best attribute is as well (keeping calm and 9/10 finding a pass) but nothing of the sort today.
Yep, would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned by his massive decline. He was excellent for the first four or five games, been poor since. Needs dropping imo
I thought Enrique was very good at getting into good positions to receive the ball, and then never doing anything significant with it
Enrique did lose the ball many times today but defensively, he was immense. He won the ball back about 11 times which is the highest number in the match. We went away to the European Champions who have since strengthend their side even further with some remarkable players like Oscar and Hazard, and they have been playing some of the best football this season. Once again, we fought back from going a goal down. We are showing great character this season and I'm pleased to see it. We just need to build on it and hopefully we can bring in some match winners in January.
You have to have at least one option to be able to make a pass! Although I think he is monkey ****e, I have been saying similar for Downing when people question his assist record: it takes two to make an assist. It is very much the same with a pass, the receiving player is just as important as the player making the pass. IMO, our biggest problem at the moment is movement
Agree with you on this, Ricky actually does a good ball when he has options. The thing he is not good at is shooting and crossing at head heigh. But he can pick out a good pass across the penalty area and has assisted a couple of goals that way.
We've had 3 at the back before and it's worked. Horses for courses. Of course I'm not surprised it didn't work for Brendan because very little appears to be. Only two shots on goal. That's not even Hodgson-bad. What concerned me most, though, was Suarez scored and nobody celebrated with him. The players just turned and headed back, leaving him alone at the corner flag. Is there some resentment over the stories of him carrying the squad? Has he been bragging or whining about it? Maybe they were just tired or maybe there's a deeper issue there.
