People suggesting we'll end up signing Walcott, Huntelaar, Dzeko, Falcao and Ben Arfa, lol lol lol lol lol yeah that'll sort us out. Walcott is totally over-rated, a numbskull, here is his internal monologue during a match, 'walcott run fast, walcott kick ball wherever, walcott go raaaaaaaaah, walcott fail, walcott run fast again' not exactly what we need, the others will all stay put and why would they come to us when we've got no bargaining chips other than Rodgers' word. Now, I like Rodgers, he talks well but there's a massive difference between that and being able to back it up on the pitch, but he's going to have to prove himself, and the team by doing something memorable, before we can attract significant transfers, unless the yanks pull it out, which won't happen since Henry has closed his trading firm losing 32% in the last 12 months. One striker in the new year and then sell to buy policy. Good job Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Cole, Downing will bring in the mega bucks then, hahahahaha!!!

Roma <ok> Was involved in both goals against us. And hit the post, which is obviously a sign that he'd fit in well with the current squad!

I think Henry should have a word with DiBenedetto about selling him to us on the cheap!

We're talking about Walcott and Huntelar because we were linked to them and this is the rumour thread. I mentioned HBA but also said it wouldn't happen. Falcao was a tongue in cheek comment I presume because that is a pipe dream.

I stick by my earlier prediction, we will be disappointed come end of Jan. <ok>

I don't wanna sound bitter I love my club but I just can't see how we can make significant improvements this season with the game being how it is, mercenary agents and players and over-expectant fans thinking we can suddenly jump in at the sharp end of things in one window. I genuinely believe that Rodgers is a good man, he's already getting us playing some sweet attacking football, but he needs players that can implement his system and that will take one-two seasons before we get results we can be excited about, so that we aren't weak at that back, wasteful in front of goal.

Two attacking players is not really too much to ask of the owners, after they let him down so badly in the summer.

Not sure how much room there'd be for Ayew, we need an out and out striker and he plays best on the wings. Lopez would be a great addition though, 3 different leagues in 3 different countries and he's got a great goal scoring record for each, so he's proved he can score. The test would be whether he can step up to the PL though, and at 29 there's not much time for him to adapt either. If we're going for 29 year olds, Huntelaar would be my pick.

Emerick would be a good signing, a bit like Assaidi in that he comes from a lesser league and is relatively unknown so will want to prove himself. Huge step up though, I think he'd take time to settle and since we need a goal scorer now, it would probably be best trying to buy him in the summer with the thought of breaking him in slowly.

Can't see Stuttgart wanting to let go of Ibesivic, he's done amazing so far and will demand a fairly large price.

Charlie Austin would be a good buy for many struggling Premier League clubs like Liverpool. How about? Peter Whittingham?

No way you're getting any of those players. Your glory days are over.

I have played against Ibesivic before btw! He used to play for St. Louis and for the PDL team there and they were a rival of ours when I was playing for Memphis! strange how the paths can go different ways! <laugh>

I threw some other names in other than striker as some were wanting a winger, etc. I would love to have Ayew in on the wings but doubt it. Pierre has been scoring for fun in the french league and is young but I do agree with the summer signing of him. Lopez I would get right now and in a hurry, hell throw in an extra 8 mil for Gourcuff while we are at it.

Kiessling is a good striker as well but think he is more of the AC mold so won't really work it seems. I mentioned Bryan Ruiz earlier in the thread as I think he fits Rodgers type of striker but trying to look at players outside of the box.
