Why doesnt Assaidi play in the league?! I am sure we are all in agreement that Assaidi looks like one awesome player. Robbbie Savage is a fan of his to. He is quick, skillful, creative and a good team player. I can also see the other players have a lot of confidence in him. They give him the ball a lot. A lot like how every one always passes to Suarez. But Assaidi is yet to start in the league, and barely gets subbed on. We are short in attack and Assaidi would improve. So why isnt he startig in the league? It almost looks like Rodgers see's him as youth for the future. but he is 24.
Robbie Savage also questioned why Berbatov had joined Fulham in the summer rather than Liverpool or Arsenal Assaidi looks good in the cup games but I'm not fully convinced that he is suitable for the league. Sterling is a better option IMO
Sterling, Assaidi and Suarez with at least one AM behind...? That leaves us a little short when defending IMO with only Suarez willing to put the work load in (although Sterling is getting better). Maybe against the 'lesser; teams? I rate Assaidi and I think he is a useful squad member, he should be getting the odd appearance here and there so he can prove him self. However, I'd rather see Suso at the minute TBH
Liverpools formation starts as a 4-3-3 most of the time with Suso occupying one of the wide berths. But is it really a 4-3-1-2 with Suso not playing wide, but drifting from side to side?
Sterling, Suarez and Suso all drift, it is called having a flexible front trio and is what makes the system effective, especially with a false number nine! This is my point about us not getting a poacher in January, I don't think it fits the system or Rodgers' plans
There is a massive problem with that, and has been our problem all season. Our forwards play on the periphery of the penalty area, they pussy foot around the box as much as they do in midfield. A striker who lacks creativity but only has one intention and thats making the net bulge is what's needed. Unless...Brendan has other ideas and wants another Torres, a striker that plays on the shoulder of the last defender with Suarez and Sterling on either side. And thats playing a formation similar to Chelsea's.
I'm convinced that Brendan wants a RF and/or LF. Someone that can play on the wing AND up top, someone that is capable of scoring goals from a wide position. A David Villa, Theo Walcott or Daniel Sturridge type of player (note, I'm not actually saying these and I ****ing hope its not the latter two). Suarez moves around the middle and moves the opposition's defense about for these wide players to exploit the space.
Daniel Sturridge is effectively a sit on the shoulder of the last defender striker and would be able to find the space in behind defenders when Suarez moves them about. On the other hand, we've seen what can happen when we use a reaction striker up front with Suarez. Dirk Kuyt is possibly the least talented forward we've ever had, but he's a reaction striker. If we had an up-grade on the Dirkmeister, it would be ideal.
I agree with this and think it is the right thing for the way BR wants to take the team forward. As for sturridge and walcott, think they would be very useful acquisitions to our squad but would be hoping for better.
There is absolutely no doubt that either or both would improve our team/squad but I don't want them! I think we need to look at better options. Plus, neither of them are happy playing out wide for their respective clubs who both have CL football, what makes people think they'll move to us and still not be given that central role they both crave...?
I this is where I think he falls short too. Once he starts either banging a goal or two in or gets a couple of assists, he will remain on the brink
James Pearce from the Echo said that Rodgers brought him in as a squad player and that is how he is being utilised. It's a shame because I feel he can add more to our attack but I'm sure we will see more of him soon.
