Thanks Sooper, that pretty much covers it. I always knew why the poppy itself was selected because it grew in Flanders etc but I didn't know exactly what it was commemorating. I do now though. It commemorates everyone killed in war so I can't really see why someone would object to wearing one if they're in a situation/Country where everyone else wears one. It is a British tradition so when in Rome etc.
Midday and around 26 here in Bris....looking forward to a swim and BBq later On the food sublect WBA2...you've posted your "menu" a couple of times over the last few days and I have to say that you certainly eat well. Are you a related to a Royal or just a "foodie Next time I'm over; I'm coming for lunch at your house !
I'm more of a blue rump steak and chips fan or a decent lasagne man myself. Although having said that as soon as I get to Kings Cross on Friday I'm getting a Maccy D's. Nearest one to where I live is about 10 miles away, and I don't drive.
I think there's a white poppy that is a more neutral and pacifist symbol that non-Commonwealth countries are slowly adopting as a symbol of peace. That's if I remember correctly...
It's nice when a plan works out. Notice we're back on it full on today. Hope the brief distraction helped though.
