Enrique has played well either at LWB or LM now, deserved MOTM. Could have gone to Sterling who has been very lively, without creating too much.
Enrique MOTM? Have you been watching the same game as me? Suso changed the game. So good for an 18 year old.
Maybe not. We'll for all the doom and gloom in the first half, we did exactly what other teams have done to us this season. Hold tight, then score from the 1 chance you're presented with.
a good point. I am sure we would all have accepted that before kick off. First half was complete s***e. Second half much better as we had more in midfield so Chelsea resorted to the big boot.
Happy with the result overall. Could have snatched it at the end as well. Poor with the first half system. Much better once he changed it around.
Glen Johnson was MOTM for me. As soon as Brendan had a word he bossed the game and his work actually gave us the momentum to actually get back in the game. Disappointed we didn't win tbh, you could of argued that Chelseas first goal was a gift from Howard Webb. I know they played better first half but ultimately there goal was a gift and ours was not!
Really encouraging that we picked ourselves up and fought for a goal. Last season we would have folded. Credit to Enrique, he produced a much better second half after being pretty poor (going forward at least). He got back quite well v Oscar once or twice. Glen was solid, especially when he moved to LB. Gerrard, Sahin pretty quiet - disappointing, especially Sahin. Suso was decent when he came on. Looked a little light-weight on occasion but he gave us a better shape. Wisdom was average, was lucky not to be punished by Mata or Hazard a few times. Sterling and Suarez were both great today - always wanted the ball, rarely lost possession, got forward when they could and made some tenacious tackles (Sterling especially).
Much better 2nd, changed set up, defence looked more comfortable, no longer over run in midfield & forwards carrying a threat. Suso ahead of Sahin every match for me.
We are becoming the draw specialists but at least we are getting points and keeping in touch of the top 6. We are 6 points off 6th and 8 points off 4th. But we have already played Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton and Arsenal. We got 4 points from those games.
Allen was **** again, even aside from the poor defending work (which I'll accept is a result of trying to fill someone elses role), he has misplaced the ball far too often today and has been shrugged off the ball several times. I would sooner play Henderson in the deep midfield role to cover for Lucas; at least he is stronger in possession and can pass backwards/sidewards just as well to keep the ball moving. Enrique MoM? Not sure on that. Ups and downs in his performance for me. Thought Sterling's workrate was fantastic all game, Johnson played well and Suarez worked hard all game also. Jones also played well, but thought he could have reacted sooner on their goal...at a push.
