I think they did... They were the away team, they had gotten the goal and then played for the 1-0 win. As the losers we never like to see teams do that, but we've done the same as away teams many times ourselves, so if we judge by that, then yes they probably do deserve to win. Furthermore we played utter ****e , and this is worse than the West Brom game. Only difference is we lucked out and won the West Brom one.

Sad to say yes. You won't find a single soul on here who had anything positive to say about the match when we discuss it.

Alan Pardew's tactics this season are pretty much the same as Newcastle's under Graeme Souness, how did that turn out? anybody remember?

The thought of a get out clause in the contract almost gives me a boner.

How many well worked team goals did we score last season? I can't remember any. What I do remember is Ba digging us out of holes for the first half, then Cisse in the second. Ben Arfa contributed a few too, but the vast majority of the goals scored were all individual moments of skill rather than something that's been worked by good passing and team work.

What I also remember is people saying we played badly but managed to grind out a win, which was true. This season the first part of that statement is still true, but sadly the second isn't.

At the moment we're playing as badly as we were when we got relegated. We don't have a team, we have 11 players, or if Cisse is on the pitch we have 10 players.

People can say the ref didn't help us today and that is true, but it's really just grasping at straws. Poor refereeing doesn't change the fact that none of our players can cross a ball, nor does it change the fact that we often try to play long balls when we have exactly zero players who can actually do anything in the air, nor does it change the fact that we still try the same useless setpiece routine time after time after time, or the fact that there is absolutely no game plan beyond giving it to HBA and hoping for him to create something.

We play **** football and we don't get good results anymore. We've only won three league games this season. It's unacceptable.

This is very true. To be honest, the referee did well. We can't blame the ref on our poor play. Those penalty calls are pretty ticky-tack and more often than not aren't given. You'd hate to see it given against you, so I can accept them not given.

What I cannot accept is the team playing as 11 individuals instead of a team. It's awful to watch, you have Ben Arfa overdribbling, you have Ba holding the ball and not releasing Ferguson, Cisse is straying offside more times than Shola has in his career etc etc. Hopefully the team can go through these problems and rectify them , or it's going to be quite a long season.

It's now bloody November and IMO we ain't had one performance worth talking about utter gash as per.
Big thanks to fat mike for backing the team in the summer.
Just not good enough and fair play to Nolan for not gloating
As most of us would have done
We are on course for one shocking season but at least not as bad
    As Sunderland

I'm sure Cisse will come good again, but not with Pardew's current approach to the team. Cisse is a player that needs service, as finishing is his only real skill (Which I admit hasn't been displayed very well recently). Without that service he might as well not be on the pitch because he adds nothing else to the team.

The current tactics nullify all of our attacking players best abilities. Cabaye's often taken out of the game by the longball, HBA is used too much and just becomes too predictable to be a genuine threat, those two things means there's no service to Cisse which makes him useless, and because the opposition knows that they can crowd Ba out of the game.

What's happened to this board lately? Everytime I come here lately it's sack the manager, Cissé terrible, Ameobi terrible, sell Tiote, Jonas dreadful, Simpson waste of space ...

we had a tough game in midweek coming from behind and obviously put too much into that match. We never got started today. Playing in europe is a bitch. Anyone who knows anything about football knows this. We should go back to playing 4-3-3 with Obertan and HBA on the wings. Give that a try.

    Awful performance.

We are 1-0 down and in the last 5 mins we are lumping long balls up to Shola who is up there by himself with no support, what the ****? Cant wait to hear what Pardew has to say.

the key to unlocking games like today is set pieces.
we are woeful in that department and Pards knows it.
I trust him to sort things out.

They played with 12 men and it was pretty obvious because he didn't even have the right strip on, he wore a yellow jersey and stuck to the line on the Milburn stand side like glue.

Then West Ham came staright back at us and this has been happening all season.
Pardew said we have to pass the ball better, well that's not happening.
Midfield looks devoid of all creativity.

The lads have to take some collective responsibility here. Its nothing to do with how we set up formation wise. The players are simply not performing to their capabilities with the ball. I'm sure they'll find it, and obviously the coaching has a part to play aswell.

Pardew has to take the lions share regarding set pieces, it is simply not good enough. If Willo is on the pitch he needs to stay back and keep out of it. We play the same ball to him over and over again. He is ****e. He either gets a feather header on it or fouls. The other issue we have is nobody takes a good dead ball. We give them to Cabaye but I'll be blunt, his quality on them is not of the required standard.

Work to be done but the fans need to make sure we don't overreact. We're still in a reasonable position and fortunately nobody except Everton/West Brom has really taken advantage of our average form. i have my doubts as to West Brom sustaining it. Liverpool, Spurs, Fulham, Arsenal have all thrown away good points too. I believe in Pardew and the players to turn this around. We have good players and a good team spirit. When the going gets tough it stands you in good stead.
