No, they are showing where the ball is and the players around the ball. What about the other players that we don't see, what are they doing? You cant tell me because you cant see them. That's why a live game gives you the bigger picture. As for the 'corner flag' i did just see that but missed what players were doing in the box for the corner because they didn't show that. Can you tell me what they were doing as i would like to know?
Actually for some of you with longer memories. When ITV showed Man U v QPR (the Dennis Bailey game) they actually missed the last goal because they were showing a replay of something else and all you see was him running away celebrating. There was also that Famous Everton/Liverpool goal in that cup game that millions missed due to an advert (ITV once again). So i rest my case about Live and TV games. TV is a good media to have but its not the same as being there.
You can see incidents better on TV but you cannot see things like the massive improvement on Taarabts workrate like him running back 50 yards to mark someone at a corner because someone else missed their assignment. The TV is better at what it shows but it doesnt show everything unlike actually being there.
Couldn't agree more (was only messin' RE the corner flag Ellers ) Maximum respect to all the boys that make the effort to go to away games.
I too made the trek to Stoke yesterday, spending most of my Saturday and a not inconsiderable sum doing so I agree with Sands that we played some good stuff and that on balance certainly didn't deserve to come away empty handed yet again HOWEVER This Stoke side is poor and time and time again we had the better of them, yet couldn't find the finishing touch. These are the sort of games that we MUST be picking up points from. Our home form at the end of last season was good yet we still had to rely on Bolton failing on the last match last season. This year I cannot see us repeating that sort of form at home For me, it was clear by early in the second half that we needed to change things around, yet MH waited until too late to introduce an out of form BZ, and we ended up pumping too many high balls up to him, very few of which he won But most disappointing of all was the attitude of certain players. Certain of them seemed to have no fight in the second half of the second half, exactly the time when upping the tempo could've brought us just rewards. I didn't see Hughes prowling the technical area ( a la Pulis), just standing there with his arms folded. All the players and management are well paid and the lack of fight or commitment is, frankly, embarrassing. Where was the drive that we saw against - for example - Liverpool at home last season? Then we fought to a man until the final whistle. The players are good enough technically to stay up, the question for me is how badly do they want it?
I have to agree with this. No one is a bigger critic of Hughes than me, but this guy has every right to post what he did without getting some of the responses that he has. I also think he has made a very valid point concerning Cisse. He is our biggest scoring threat, but we're not giving him the scoring opportunities imo.
I've been searching and searching for the right words......and that just sums it up perfectly mate imo.
That's a good post, although, imo, Hughes tried to fit all the RIGHT players into the WRONG formation. He simply won't budge from his 4-4-2 beliefs and this will be his downfall imo.
Yes I did and the point I'm making is that he needs better service and a different formation to get him into scoring positions. Get him in those positions and he'll get the goals imo. The alternative is Zamora or Mackie....no contest for me.
Right, my turn. I am no fan of Hughes, in fact I think he is our worst manager since I started following my beloved Hoops over 45 years ago. However, we played our best football since MH took over in the first half yesterday and I posted such on NOT606 during the match. He finally dropped SWP and in general (injuries and suspensions aside), played a team that most of us would agree was the best available to him. What he continually fails to do though is get the formation right, make substitutions at the right time and instill any passion in the team. TF needs to get rid, althoughyh I fear it may be too late for anyone to save us. Hurrrrumph!!!!!
His attitude stinks though mate. If Mackie played as many games up front as Cisse has, he'd have got more than one paltry goal for his efforts. Its terrible that a player with little or no raw talent would do a better job than someone with bags of the stuff. As Kenny Cunningham said last night: "Cisse's had lots of different Clubs for a reason"
Here we have a new poster coming on and giving his opinion on a game he has just attended, and this is the response he gets?! Disgraceful. Well done to all the posters who have later set the record straight though. Welcome Sands and new Yorkshire, you've both argued your stance and I agree with both of you. Good points re Cisse too. Only negative though is his body language was appealing yesterday. Shaking his head to his teammates' efforts. Hands attached to hips throughout and general bitching when he himself made the wrong choices time and time again.
Yeah....maybe. I'm not convinced that his attitude is that bad to be honest. He's selfish and hates not scoring, but I believe he's our best goal scorer. Thinking about it......get 'Arry in and we may end up with Defoe in January (plus, maybe Dawson). Now that would be an up-grade imo. Mackie may be worth a go but I'm not convinced.
Agree Swords, I thought Cisse was poor yesterday as well, the days of a CF waiting for the ball to land on his toe are over, all players have to be mobile nowadays and Cisse just doesn´t move enough off of the ball, someone mentioned we played 442 yesterday, who was upfront with Cisse cos I missed that one. One last point, why did we not buy Berbatov? and why do Fulham always manage to find some quality, I am more jealous of Fulham with their ability to identify talent than Chelsea who just buy the flavour of the month. What are our scouts doing??
I think it was 4-4-1-1 mate with Adel playing behind Cisse. This meant that we had Granero on the right!!!! Hughes is clueless I'm afraid.
Can't stand that attitude, awful for team spirit , I could be wrong but I suspect Monsieur Cisse is a bit of twat.
Jokes and fun aside the thing that concerns me most about yesterday (apart from result) was Adel/Cisse moan at each other also Granero and Cisse moan and Cisse not running into the box at one point and seemed not to be bothered. That body language tells an interesting story. I hope i am wrong but for me it's starting to get to the players. I am not saying MH but the longer this goes on without a win the more it will become harder. A bit like Wolves last year.
