To be fair to him, I got the impression it was coming from one of the entrance tunnels. I think someone had come in late to the ground and was probably singing out of sight while walking towards the steps up - otherwise he's have been hushed up pretty quickly. Vin
The "Red Army" chants were from outside, but there was someone who made noise for a second before that - sounded like he was on the phone to me?
I always think having a minutes silence is beautiful. How many people out there have actually enjoyed the beauty of silence? We are assaulted 24/7 by noise - traffic, music in shopping malls and the most galling of the lot music in pubs. Witherspoon's might not be everybody's place for a drink but at least they refrain from playing music. They could improve things further by taking away the TV screens as they are a distraction.
It was definitely coming from outside of the ground behind the Kingsland, they wouldn't have known what was going on inside at that time. There were a few mobiles burbling away but nothing deliberately disrespectful.
It was outside the ground the person probably didn't realise why it was so quiet............Inside the ground though was as quiet as any ground in the country. Every one that was there can take a pat on the back. Including the away fans.........
Where I sit we have a couple of youngsters with Downs Syndrome who attend every game, they are not always in control of their behaviour and one of them did make a noise but hastily shushed.
I think the announcer got the timing wrong, the ref was still doing the toss-up when they announced it and by the time he'd finished and all players/refs had got to the centre circle and the ref blew, there was a short applause, I think some people thought that was the end of the silence. But on the whole, very well observed, as it should have been. On a slightly different note (and not that it matters in the great scheme of things), All Saints Day was always the closest game to 1st Nov, which should have been the Spurs game, I wonder why it was combined with Rememberance Day?
All the PL clubs did a minutes silence for Remembrance Day, but I think we combined it with All Saints Day to commemorate all lost Saints fans.
