With the absence of some match threads lately I decided to take a look at the activity on here. Some facts:

We have 124 members registered as Wycombe fans (of which 35 have never posted)
In the last 12 months 51 have posted
Since the end of September 24 have posted
And, although we have had 2 League games and an FA Cup game this month the number of posters is down to 17

More worrying is that, on a home match day there were only 3 posters
Yours truly, with the L2 competition results
Guy with his L2 competition selections
and one member posting on a rival thread

Are members defecting to other forums or is there a general lack of interest due to poor results?

    Views welcome.

By comparison Gillingham have had 51 posters this month and Bristol Rovers 24

I have been asking myself the same question Ron. As you know I visit your forum with some degree of regularity but have not felt inclined to say much in recent weeks with the apparent lack of activity.

Come on Chair Boys, I know it's been a pretty awful year or so for you but please try and remain a little upbeat <ok>

Cheers Thai. That just about says it all doesn't it? A thread about the forum dying and one post from a valued Norwich supporter and just the one guest viewing.

This forum (for the gas at least) seems to go up and down. Some months we have a lot of activity, other months we have barely any. Problem with us is we have several forums up and running already with the official, the alternative and then several others like vital etc so its spread out between all of those. The official one is obviously busy most days but even that one seems to be dying. I think its just the fact we are ****e at the moment (both clubs!) that the general interest is low. When the good times return, things will be a lot better <ok>

It is reflected at home games as well. Maybe two seasons ago our average was about 6,500. Now it is barely hitting 5,000

    Hi Ron

I thought the same. Our numbers on the gas board was low. I found out we had 87 members but only felt like 5! I was shocked when I found out we had 87 members. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/175952-gasheads-only-discussion-thread-guys

So we did a recruitment drive, as you know I got our local BBC radio station on the go as well helping us. And a week later we were up to 99 members and much busier for us. W e also made changes to the board as found some regulars no longer bothered due threads going off topic and getting hijacked. So we made some house rules and as a result there has been at least 4/5 return and very happy with the changes.

Our board is growing slowly but heading in the right direction.

Is there anywhere your end where you can promote the site to gain more members? As your current members to try and get at least 1 person to join up. Currently you said you are down to 17 members posting this month. If you all can attract 1 person each then that goes to 34 etc. A place like this, the best form of advertisment is word of mouth. If people enjoy it they will come back and may pass on to others what our site is about. Where there is so much doom and gloom on rovers official fans forum, the ones moaning about the forum where they keep getting shouted down by the tinters. So I sent them a personal message to them and promoted our site.

to speak for myself, and im sure others, i was at the match so felt no need to be on not606. in terms of after the match i saw the lack of match thread and for whatever reason decided not to post anything

in general though i think it flickers on and off - our fellow wwfc forum the gasroom seems to be a bit quiet lately as well so maybe its just at this club at the moment, im sure things will turn

I look up other teams for their thoughts on games before we play and some have had no posts this season so we are one of the busy ones.

Cheers Jose. we used to regularly have a pre-match thread and after the game some discussion from those who attended. I find those threads very interesting, being in France, and I would love to see a bit more activity on those fronts.

    Come back Hayes

I am guessing most don't want to think about following defeat after defeat Ron, although you did have a few good wins of late. Maybe it is just the demise of the team is being reflected on here too, which is a shame as I too like to come here and read what you guys are feeling from week to week.

Maybe if the on-pitch activity starts to improve on a more regular basis the fans will be more inclined to talk about it, after all, as humans we prefer to talk about success rather than failure <ok>

Not so long ago we were talking about enjoying failure if we could be without Hayes.

I think the financial position of the club has left us all with very little to say. Many are resigned to a long hard relegation battle after years of League 2 dominance. In previous seasons we would have discussed bringing in new signings or maybe trying youth players - Bon are a mute point now.
Saturdays game left me feeling depressed and not really wanting to look at all things Wycombe! The match result affects my weekend enough without wallowing in it!
So Ron in answer to your question. I think it the general depression that hangs over the club at present. Also a feeling of hopelessness due to our financial position. This was obviously echoed at the ground on Saturday with a crowd of just over 3000!
Where are all those vocal hundreds that promised to support the trust an return in droves after Hayes demise?

I echo slashers comments, and agree it is hard to discuss a losing team. I see the result and want to forget about it A.S.A.P. I don't attend the games much and used to enjoy a post match thread with players scores and the like, however I predict they will all be 'tried hard but lack of ability' (at least they are trying hard). A few wins and I'm sure it will pick up. It's one of the only forums I can use at work so I want it to keep going.

Maybe we need something else to keep the forum going and retain our community spirit during bad times.

But is it really bad times? Surely the worst times were when Hayes was here plunging us deeper and deeper in debt with his pipe dreams. We were all prepared to drop to non league football if we could just escape from the spiralling debt.

Some of us were fanatical fans of Wycombe when we were an amateur side. Since then we've had a few promotions and relegations. I don't think non league football would be a bad thing until we can get back on our feet financially. Look on it as League 3 with the prospect of one day getting promoted back to League 2 and beyond, with some possible FA Cup giant killing on the way. If we stay in L2 we can expect to lose more than we win for the foreseeable future.

Just look at what has come up from non league. Look at teams like Wimbledon and Aldershot. We have had a lucky escape from their misfortunes. We should be buzzing now. Losing to better sides should not be depressing. If our lads are giving 100% we can ask no more. Not so long ago they weren't even turning up at matches; now that was depressing.

Come on you Blues. Avoiding relegation will be a bonus. Just give us 100 % effort.

Ron, at the beginning of the season avoiding relegation and getting more stability was all I wanted. In fact it still is all I want and I like the way that the youngsters are getting games, however losing each game isn't really something I want to discuss.

I thinking the betting competition is keeping it going fine. I also liked (on other teams forums) some joke threads - the one on QPR's was hilarious.

We do also have a jokes thread on the horse racing forum if anyone is interested. Not all are jokes but it is for any type of amusement.

There is an Amusement Thread here if anyone wants to use it, accessible through the index
