Well without insulting any die hard Jenson fans on here I would say that the form that he has shown recently has been akin to Coulthard from 2003 onwards, but he gets on pretty well with Whitmarsh so that will probably spare him the sack. Still believe that McLaren made a mistake in picking Jenson over Kimi when both became available, I know Kimi never liked the corporate side of McLaren but the people in the team really liked him (More so than probably Hamilton) I think this year proved Kimi would have been a better bet than Jenson
Interesting that over the nearly three seasons Hamilton and Button have been team mates, they are separated by only 5 points: Button: 214 + 270 + 153 = 637 Hamilton: 240 + 227 + 165 = 632 So, neither has exactly blown the other away.
Wow, shows what a complete ****-up 2012 has been for McLaren. Both have scored massively lower than in previous years with a car that seemed to have been competitive for most of the seasons and there hasn't even been an RBR walkover this year either to take away lots of points from them.
Yeah, Jenson's reputation is suffering from "only as good as your last race" syndrome, as Hamilton's was in 2011. Obviously recent reliability issues have prevented Lewis from leading the overall standings but to be so close over quite a few races now tells a story.
Yeah... 2012 has been an absolute disaster for McLaren. Reliability, bad pit stops and mistakes haven't just slightly hindered them, it's cost them a realistic shot at the title.
I'd be very surprised if they were both there in 2014. Perez will have to improve to show he's good enough for McLaren, he's been erratic since the move was announced. Button will be getting on a bit and he's said he wants to do other forms of motorsport so he may well leave on his own terms or be pushed out. There are some good drivers waiting in the wings, Hulkenberg and di Resta are both looking for better drives, I think Bottas will be a real hit next season as well.
They'll both be there in 2014. I'd be shocked if that wasn't the case. They both have contracts and Whitmarsh has been all over the press talking about how Perez will find it tough and how he will develop, While they still look comfortable with Jenson. They would have to do pretty badly to be dropped. 2015 is probably another matter. Thats when they'll have run out of patience with Sergio and/or Jenson if current form continues and thats when JB is more likely to retire.
I can't see Jenson continuing beyond the 2014 season even if he wins the WDC! I predict a total new pairing for the 2015 season!
