Not correct, investigation proved that none of the data was implemented at all. What's weird is that Renaulty got away with exactly the same thing. Ferrari have been notorious for it, I remember James Hunt saying words to those effects in the 70's. The only reason Ferrari get away with it is because it's only Ferrari that ever wave the rule book in the air. Typical Italian behaviour, it's no coincidence that most cheating originates from Italy, everyone else has to copy to stay on an equal footing.

Posted on a thread on 606 but since that place is closed at stupid o'clock I guess I'll try not606. :)

What's the deal with the tyres on the promotional filming days? I thought they had to use treaded tyres or something along those lines... maybe it was another compound.... but if that's the case then how useful would any data be?

Maybe I'm getting my wires crossed.

If that's the case then I would imagine it's pretty hard to truly evaluate how successful any upgrades are.

I guess the bottom line is that all the other teams have the same opportunity to do the same, so it's really no advantage.

I agree with the comment above about bringing back at least some in-season testing. At least let the teams designate X amount of days and let them use them as they see fit.

The idea of making FP1 unrestricted (tyre and car parts wise) for 'young test drivers' has been floated about on various discussion boards in the past, but I see this as being unlikely despite being a potentially good thing.

The interesting thing is that Massa is the one driving the car in important tests

Following BLS' comment, why not open the track for the entirety of Friday, from 9-5, but only allow the drivers racing on sunday to do 3hrs as they are now? Then you'd get effectively a test day, and it would also be beneficial in getting new up and coming drivers time in an F1 car.

good Idea but from a schedual and a fan point of view it wouldnt work as you will have support classes needing practise time too. I liked Bernies Idea (shock horror) a few years ago about testing days on mondays after the race.

Would make logistical sense I suppose depending on the gap until the next race. Probably wouldn't be possible with the odd week gap between races.

I guess it depends on distances, in Europe that might work, but I doubt it with the long-haul races. I like the idea though, and it'd be nice if they made it cheap to get in so people who don't have the money can go and see some F1.

It doesnt have to be after every race. Maybe a selected few. Barca, Monza, Abu Dhabi, Turkey and Silverstone

Now it's looking more and more likely that Ferrari didn't cheat, but were instead looking at set up changes/ testing for wind tunnel calibration. As I just explained, Ferrari did a test at Vairano the day before and therefore had no need to risk breaking a FOTA agreement.

Some very good posts and I'm pleased to see the level of suspicion raised in this thread. - Even for an advert, there is a wealth of on track footage available to them, which with modern technology and graphics capability can very easily be used. The whole concept of 'filming days' is ludicrous [edit: with the current testing restrictions as they stand].

Ferrari more than any other team have always sought advantageous circumstance; always shouted loudest in persuading others to tolerate them and their self-appointed special status. They are the only team that can blatantly flout the ethics of existing rules in such a manner as to get them changed. Wo-betide others with the audacity to try it without Ferrari's consent…

    - Let's just hope that Murdoch and Exor do not get the rights to turn F1 into a far more serious Ferrari farce.

Tbh this could be the real thing with Ferrari actually leaving F1 and starting up their own ****ty league with BskyB which will flop like a dead bird. Bernie had an agreement with the european union that F1 has to remain free view, more so the union wanting it like that.

All bullshit from sky again! and they haven't got a ****ing stone to stand on.

Hopefully Obama will do the same to Murdoch which he done to Bin Laden and do the whole world a damn favour...

I wonder if Ferrari will win if Turdoch and Exor take over? Could be?
