Couldn't find a McLaren MP4-27 thread so I thought I would just put it in here: please log in to view this image Look at all that aero paint! It's like they're testing a whole new car.
Yeah apparently the test will make the car faster in Austin, personally I'd settle for "more reliable". http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104116 Does anyone know what they have been testing "besides young drivers"?
The same could be said for RBR and Lotus, both had some pretty big upgrades being tested out there these last 3 days, especially Red Bull. New front wing, new front suspension, new rear wing, new diffuser, Sauber/Lotus/Mercedes style DRS and a new bump on the nose not sure what that was for but maybe a sensor.
True, he may only mean faster as opposed to, faster relative to Sounds like they tested quite a lot these past 3 days then, still don't know why they didn't do it mid season though instead, when they were struggling.
Horner and Newey said all through mid season that they didn't know what was working with the RB8 and what wasn't around about until the end of the euro period, that's why RBR were still quite slow compared with the upgrades done by Ferrari and McLaren. The upgrades for the RB8 were minimal until the car was actually sorted out, then the big gains came out of the 5 week break and beyond which we have saw RBR are back at the front with McLaren fighting the good fight and Ferrari being 2 steps behind. Now they have cracked the RB8, the transition for the RB9 should be quite smooth compared with this season. McLaren probably wanted testing for 2013 rather than this season and since the car was still pretty good until Silverstone etc... maybe they believed it was pointless to use the test mid season as the upgrades coming would quickly change that. This test just makes it likely to leave Ferrari behind in the last 2 races and a few steps behind in 2013 as well, so RBR/McLaren/Lotus/Sauber should have an advantage going into 2013 testing with the new car where Ferrari would be dependent on Toyota's wind tunnel again for 2013 and 2012 upgrades.
Going back to the language thing, it's interesting that the BBC received more complaints about it making the race late on iplayer, than about the actual swearing itself!
Oh noes... Somebody told off the Prophet Vettel. Time to get the Anthrax out. In fairness, they have the same responsibility as any other sports person, and while I enjoy a bit of color, they have done the right thing in asking them to put a lid on it so it doesn't become the norm or escalate.

It could change a dozen times by then and turn out to be a glorious 3 days in the 80's... Or everybody could be running for a storm cellar.
Weather report as from today: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USTX0057 Fri: Cloudy with chances of rain 20%. Sat: Cloudy with chances of rain 20%. Sun: Mild cloud with a chance of rain 20%.
Don't know about heavy rain, the threat seems to be going down day by day on Friday but Saturday has slowly picked up so if it does rain it wont be much by the looks of it. But yeah, Sun dance!
