My response was a **** attempt at humour mate. I do remember saying at the time that although it was exciting seeing all these great names linked with us, it seemed a bit ott. 3,4 maybe 5 max... but 12? It was never going to work. We all knew this, but millionaires running premiership football clubs ( Management as well as owners ) seemingly didn't. What can you do? If the table was turned upside down we would all hail them as geniuses.
I thought your post was funny Ninesy! My concern wasn't so much the amount of players we signed but more so their age. I was wrong about one thing though and that was the defence. People was banging on about strengthening the defence the whole time but I reckoned what we had was solid enough. How wrong I was!
It's good to see you back on board and behaving yourself mate. Don't be going off on one again, I like it when the good swordsie is about. In defence of the defence, with hindsight, we had enough cover in the middle. Ferdinand , Onouha, Nelsen, Hill, M'Bia and even Bosingwa. ( UCL winner in that position. ???) But left ourselves a little short in the full-back positions. Bosingwa and Onouha? R/B ( Rather of had Luke Young ) and Fabio and Traore, both injury prone. Although Hill can cover, he has been found out in that position at this level. It has resulted in a feckin shambles. We have a great midfield but lack up top. Judo and a few others have been banging on about this before the end of last season. We don't have the capacity to score enough goals . This is what makes a mockery of Hughes's statement that we ' Got our business done early. ' Oh well, sod all we can do about it. Keep supporting the R's. I hope it works itself out in the end.
Those boys was right. I thought up top we were alright too because I erroneously thought Cisse would be our first 20 goal a season man since Sir Les because of his 6 goals in 9 games or whatever it was last season. Alas the man looks a shadow of his former self.
'Alas the man looks a shadow of his former self. ' I liked the way Cisse was talking post match. He said talk is cheap. ( Basically.) The talking has to be done on the pitch. I think we have our Cisse back. He will be the match winner v Stoke. URssssssss!
I think it's obvious that MH was picked because he was the biggest name with PL managerial experience at the time Warnock was sacked. The first article quite rightly says that his managerial track record is questionable, a big name player who hasn't quite cut it as a manager. This is why timing is so important in changing a manager, if we leave it much longer then Harry could well have been snapped up and we'll be left looking at who? If Saints get stuffed by Swansea today Harry might be at St. Marys by Monday and his first match would be at Loftus Road next Saturday...
Not even if hell froze over. Saints fans still adore Adkins and they hate 'Atty wiv a passion. There would be open revolt on the sarf coast if that happened.
