Not so sure that's a good move myself, especially Nolan. Or is this just a bit of kidology before the match on Pardew's part?

    From the BBC

Alan Pardew: I want Andy Carroll back at Newcastle

Alan Pardew wants to bring Andy Carroll back to Newcastle when his West Ham loan expires.
Carroll, 23, is on loan with the Hammers - who visit St James' Park on Sunday - until the end of the season.
But Magpies manager Pardew is keen to re-sign him having sold the striker to Liverpool for £35m in January 2011.
"He's a Liverpool player and not wanted so at some point he's going to move permanently," said Pardew. "I'd like to think we'll be in the mix for that."
England striker Carroll scored 31 goals in 80 league appearances for Newcastle before moving to Anfield.
He returns to St James' Park along with former Magpies team-mate Kevin Nolan.

And Pardew told BBC Sport he would also re-sign midfielder Nolan, who joined West Ham from Newcastle in June 2011, if he could afford to.
Former West Ham boss Pardew said: "Big Andy hopefully one day will want to come back and certainly I'd like to have them both in my squad now because we would be stronger for it.
"But obviously finances restrict me from doing that."

Pardew believes Newcastle owe Carroll a "great debt" for generating £35m for the club when he joined Liverpool.
The Newcastle manager says the cash enabled the Magpies to finish fifth last season and qualify for the Europa League.
"The fee was astronomical, we have used it well," he added.

Newcastle have signed Papiss Cisse from Freiburg for £9m, Yohan Cabaye from Lille for £4.8m and Demba Ba from West Ham on a free since Carroll left the north east almost two years ago.
"The position we are in, if I'm honest, is because we used the money from Andy's sale well," said Pardew.
"He was a brilliant player for us and we owe a great debt to him."

Meanwhile, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says he has moved on from his turbulent time as Newcastle boss as he prepares to return with the Hammers on Sunday.
Allardyce was sacked by Newcastle almost five years ago.
"There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then," said Allardyce.
"Life moves on, I don't live in the past. I can only look to the future as best I can."

I'd take Carroll back for the right price. Nolan, no thanks.

I think if you offered most PL managers the option of having Carroll in your squad, they'd say "Yes please!". For whatever reason Brendan Rodgers didn't fancy him but he is a fantastic talent and its simply about getting him in tip top shape. When he is fit and firing, he is pretty much unplayable at times. Even the top sides, while he wouldn't start they'd love to have him as a secondary option. I'm sure Pardew and Ashley would like him back, particularly if the price is around the 15m mark. Reality is though Liverpool are still smarting and they would be loathe to do business with us.

Nolan is another who it would be nice to have in your squad. He brings goals and a burning desire for his side to do well. Pardew is probably just being honest. He'd like both but you can't pay Nolan 30-40k to sit and watch from the bench. We're not Man U or Chelsea.

I think when he went on loan to WH we agreed on a fee that if WH stay up this season they'll take him off our hands for £17m, I've also heard that when they took him on loan we were paid £3m for something or other, again, I may be wrong!

Both Carroll and Nolan have proved what good PL players they are this season for West Ham - say what you like about Sam Allardyce, but he's got the 'Ammers well up the league and looking nailed on to stay up.

I'm not sure I would have Nolan back, but Carroll would be a welcome return.
He will always score goals at the top level and will be a huge challenge for our defenders come the match.

Again, it's smart talking from Pardew - he won't want Carroll or Nolan fired up to do well against us, so 'bigging them up' on the eve of the game is a shrewd move. <ok>

Nolan is the type of player the Mackems could do with.

Alan Pardew hopes to re-sign Liverpool's Andy Carroll when his former Newcastle United striker ends his season-long loan at West Ham United. Carroll, set to feature at his hometown club on Sunday, left Newcastle for Liverpool in a £35m move in January last year before being shipped out on loan by Brendan Rodgers.

"He's a Liverpool player and not wanted so at some point he's going to move permanently. I'd like to think we'll be in the mix for that," Pardew told the BBC. The Senegal duo Demba Ba and Papiss Cissé have shone up front for Newcastle at different times in the last two seasons but Pardew would still love to have Carroll and West Ham's former Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan back.

"Big Andy hopefully one day will want to come back and certainly I'd like to have them both in my squad now because we would be stronger for it."

As long as it's not to replace BA. We need to concentrate on defence first though.

I'd love Carroll back as long as it's not be a replacement.

He'd give us a big threat from set plays, plus he can work in a system and create space for our better players to work in.

Agree. I wouldn't want Nolan back though, although he does deserve credit for that hat trick. Our midfields spot on. Nearly.

Any goals he scores against us will almost be like cancelling out those 3 goals against Sunderland...

If I see that chicken dance I might throw up :emoticon-0119-puke: <<<< I know what you're thinking... Is that emoticon really necessary when I've just mentioned throwing up...? Yes, yes it is. The written verbalization is not, I feel, strong enough imagery to convey the fruity goodness that would be me actively momma-birding in my seat... And the emoticon by itself without explanation would just have been weird...

Anyway, as I was saying <badger><badger>

How long did Carroll stay at Nolan's place after one of his first instances of being famous?

No to Nolan. Would welcome Mandy back for sure. Nolan is no spring chicken and not better than what we have, Pardew's probably just putting in some good words , that's all. After all, his talk is free

Nothing against Nolan but I wouldn't have him back.

He'd be backup and on a bare minimum of £20kpw (probably double that) with no resale value, which goes against our business model.

It would be a slap in the face for Vuckic and Abeid who in my opinion, should be phanded more opportunities.

Carroll on the other hand, anything upto £15m for the lad, no doubting his ability and his attitude seems to have improved. I wouldn't offer any more than £60kpw for him though. Ba has proven himself the better player and we're refusing to break the bank for him, it'd be unfair to do so for Carroll (who still has a lot to learn).

    Sadly I think Carroll would be Ba's replacement but look at it this way;

    Carroll - £35m
    Ba (his replacement) - Free

    Ba - £7m
    Carroll (his replacement) - -£15m

So we'd have been paid £27m to play musical chairs. <ok>

Nolan left under a cloud granted and his early toon career was not a bed of roses but IMO he made up for that towards the latter but I thought he was a top player and any player who scores once against the smb is a hero but to score 3 should be knighted so I wish him well but as long as its after tomorrow guaranteed him or Mandy will score its written in the script
I would have Mandy back but think Nolan left at the right time
