As are others like Seven Seas.

Have we got any feed back on the Siemens Green Port yet?

Dunno mate - but if that (Tory) MP gets his way, then Siemens will likely jack it in.

    Oh yes - Priestmans...

Unless it costs £100+ and you can put it on credit card why would anybody be buying anything electrical from Comet now? I can't believe it was packed with people who'd suddenly found enough to buy themselves a new big screen TV or a computer.

It's a shame to see so many old Hull companies going to the wall, though Comet were a ****ing useless retailer and the company lost it's Hull roots when Mike Hollingbery flogged it in the 80's.

Their offers were open to exploitation as well. Big TV stands the same price as everywhere else, but £100 off if you bought any TV. The look on their faces when I got a small TV for my kitchen and said I was getting the big one elsewhere (John Lewis, same price but with a 5 year guarantee as standard).

It depresses me seeing this sort of thing happening. I've been out of work since January and really struggling. I just can't seem to get a interview. I've had two, one for Home Bargains and another for Lloyds Bar in town.

the only people making any money out of this green port 'concept' are those hyping it up and writing about it! it's a spin doctor's paradise. the usual suspects - ie Mehan, et al

Comets been in the ****ter for about 18 months now though. They had to lay off all of their call centre staff as they couldn't afford to pay the lease about a year ago and did you see that fiasco about the store closing for half a day whilst they had a load of people outside eager to buy? It's a shame that so many companies in still in financial crisis and I don't see it getting any better soon. You'd think that the government would step in and do something about it by now by helping out businesses in areas such as Hull that have high unemployment rates so they can retain staff, not ignore the matter completely and then bitch and moan about the high % of people that are on JSA.
