http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20262698 In typical BBC fashion, they neglected to mention the Metropolitan Police stated they wouldn't take any action if Token Herbert went whinging to them with his petty vendetta. In my mind, there's three solutions to this whole waste of time, effort and braincells: 1.) Spurs slap Herbert with a defamation suit 2.) Spurs petition to get Herbert disbarred 3.) Herbert and John Terry are locked in a room with a lead pipe on the floor, and told only one of them will be allowed out. We neglect to mention the one that leaves the room received a life sentence for murder until afterwards...
Has anybody got a quote from the Met Police saying they won't take any action ? I seem to remember the Dail fail headline saying 'Sing what you want'. I doubt the Met would have said that.
They're also for some reason intent on showing a picture of a half empty section of stand that was taken in extra time when we were losing for each article that involves the Y-word debate.
It's already been posted on here, but here it is for those who missed it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...9/Tottenham-fans-told-police-Yid-Army-ok.html Or, if you want the version that's work safe: http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/ind...ver-yid-army-chant-after-racism-claims.91846/ The club have also come out in support of our fans: http://www.theweek.co.uk/football/r...ub-backs-fans-after-police-threat-over-chants Hopefully these links will be forwarded to the following e-mail address: [email protected]
We were losing to people that believe the scoreboard decides the result. I on the otherhand considered it a victory for Spurs in the "who can field the ****test team" competition.
No factual evidence to substantiate the claims made about the Met saying they won't take action then? Could get interesting in 2 weeks from now
I saw those, but there are no quotes from anybody from the Metropolitan Police. I'm just wondering where the Daily Fail have got it from. I suspect if those links were forwarded to Peter Herbert he would say that they are baseless.
You may wish to re-read the opening two paragraphs of the Mail article. You know, the part that said... Only an idiot would be unable to read that, understand what it means, and come to that conclusion.
Sorry, but that's a meaningless comment. Where the 'facts' are available then I've always deferred to them. Fair enough if the Met have said that they won't take any action, but I find it odd that there are no quotes to back up this claim. When a newspaper gives credence to a story it usually does so by providing quotes from those involved. When they claim that an organisation has said something, you would have thought to legitimise that claim, they would print the quote. In the absence of any quotes, it's just newspaper speculation.
I'm only spelling it out as it was cited as evidence earlier in the thread, when in fact it appears simply to be tabloid speculation.
If there's an easy nick, and a bit of publicity in it, I dare say that the old bill may take a passing interest. However, this looks too much like hard work. So, my guess is they'll do SFA.
I hope spurs fans sing yid army (or whatever the chant is)at the top of their voices in the first home game after the 20th November just to piss of peter the prick, come to think of it, it would be funny to here 'peter your a prick' ring round the stadium as well haha. Rest assured nothing will happen, they tried this with rangers for years, in fact all the publicity just made the fans even more determined to continue the songs and not allow the establishment of do gooder groups tell them what they can and can't sing. Most of their songs were about killing Catholics, amongst other things, so basically spurs chants are like nursery rhymes compared to the stuff rangers were singing. Even so, a lot of the fans didn't even understand what the words meant, and they had been signing these songs for years. The club did its best and even published a song book of songs that they could sing and gave it out for free, but the fans just saw the establishment trying to force them to stop it, and that made them more determined than ever not to stop. I know people who were prepared to go to jail rather than stop singing, and not just your average glaswieigens, people with good jobs and a lot to lose. Do you really think the police would arrest 1000s of people for singing a song, it would cost millions of pounds to arrest, process and convict, then they would have to do the same again the next home game. The worst case scenario is the club would get fined, but due to spurs chants not even being offensive its highly unlikely. Herberts abusing his position, as he knows that the police would be duty bound to investigate, if this is the case I hope the bill for the investigation is forwarded to the SBL for wasting police time and resources.
Like I say, too much like hard work!..I don't know what axe this pest of a lawyer is trying to grind, but I'm damn sure it won't be anything of benefit to the Jewish people!..
I don't know if anyone picked up on the point that I made on the Chav board, but there is no way that there is any come-back on our fans singing "yid army" at our games. Firstly, we've done it for years. Secondly, the offence (if there is any) is aimed against the very people that are singing the song, because it is self-referential. I know, because I am a lawyer, and I know what has to be proven in order to bring a claim for racist abuse.
