I liked the Robert Dawes, Timothy Spall, Brenda Blethyn and Josie Lawerence programme, "Outside Edge" about a village cricket team!
I'm amazed that nobody has mentioned 'It ain't half hot, mum' with Don Estelle and Windsor Davies - amongst a cast of numerous others. They wouldn't get away with the scripts these days (Love thy neighbour likewise) but it used to have me in stitches. Just because Jack Whitehall is in something doesn't make it good - see Bad Education! Absolute ****e! However, I have been watching two new series lately, Cuckoo and Hebburn, both of which have had me in stitches. Greg Davies is ****ing hilarious in Cuckoo, especially the episode when he is off his tits on ecstasy. Genius. The thing I like about both of these new comedies is that they are so well written and you can relate to the characters and grow to like and empathise with them.
Got to add Mrs Brown's Boys to the list. Have a look at the episode where she gives 'herself' a bikini wax Brilliant
In no particular order my Top Ten would include: Red Dwarf Blackadder Phoenix Nights The Young Ones The League Of Gentlemen Only Fools and Horses Porridge Allo Allo Dad's Army and Please Sir
Why is it I still know that Toxteth O' Grady holds the world record for the most marshmallows stuffed up one nostril!!!
That episode was hilarious, Dexys are my favourite ever band so I loved all the references to them in it as well. Saw one other episode and thought it was a bit naff though to be honest. I was never a fan of Jack Whitehall until I saw Fresh Meat, now I think he's great, his character in it is absolutely brilliant! I was a fan of the Inbetweeners but personally think Fresh Meat beats it hands down. My all-time favourite sit-coms (in no particular order) would be; Blackadder Fawlty Towers League of Gentlemen Spaced Peep Show Dad's Army The Young Ones Police Squad Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em I'm Alan Partridge Not a sit-com as such, but my all-time favourite tv comedy is between The Day Today and Brass Eye, either way Chris Morris is a ****ing genius and another big hero of mine
must put "the vicar of dibley" in there if only for the vicars and alices jokes at the end of each programme.
Christ JWM, Miranda is the most unfunny thing on television. I put it up there with My Family. They're both horrendous. Saw a mention of The Thick of It, that's an absolutely brilliant show. Peter Capaldi plays Malcolm Tucker a treat, remind me of David McNally.
Not a great telly watcher, but always made a point of watching "The Young Ones" and "Q". Most of the rest of the things posted I have absolutly no idea about!!!
There's a bar maid at one of the hotels in town who we call Alice. She has no idea of the 'Dibley' conotations - and plays along
