"As well as everything else, I spoke to Adkins about @Luke_shaw3 yesterday. Can see him getting his first Premier League start tomorrow." - Simon Peach on Twitter Havn't ever really seen Shaw play, what are his good attributes? Will we miss Fox's left foot? Or more likely not miss his defensive lapse's?
He's better than Fox already imo, let alone in 5/6 years - Shaw has a pretty decent cross on him as well, so Fox's left foot won't be missed too much
I think it would be a good game to give him a run, the swans are a footballing side which would suit shaw more than if we were playing a stoke or west ham
Shaw is a leftie, if he does play then I hope that he will stick to the basics like defending as I would hate for him to be at fault for a goal. After a few games he can unleash his attacking instincts.
Hopefully young Luke will take his chance with both hands. And I agree with other posters on other threads that Luke is probably better that foxy already.
I'm pretty excited that we might be seeing the new Bale. We've been hearing about this guy for a while now, and even rumours that Chelsea have been after him before he's even played a professional game. He's got to be pretty good.
Personally I hope he stays on his feet and doesn't use his hands especially in the penalty area........... .....If he does play I too hope he takes his chance...............
I would really warn against comparing him with Bale. The two are compared based more on the fact they both came through our academy as left-backs than any similarities in ability. It's pretty unlikely he'll turn out as good as Bale, but he could still be a very useful player for us, and he should be judged on that basis not based on how good he is compared with Bale.
He's way different then Bale, Shaw can actually defend and put a good tackle in. Also he knows he's a Lb unlike Fox who still thinks he's playing Cb .
I've seen him play alot of times, he's much better then Bale was at defending at 17. The only things that they really have in common is they're both Lb's and both have a good left foot.
The thing about Bale when he first started was his speed, it was mentioned that he ran the 100 metres in less than 11 seconds when he was 14 but he was very skinny, he has bulked up no end as we saw for his goal when he just pushed Clyne out of the way, he has worked very hard at all aspects of his game and is now probably the most complete left sided player in the country. I thought Reeves looked a better prospect than Shaw, but Shaw is the more natural defender so he should be given his chance and I hope that he takes it and continues to improve.
Just think how terrible Wales would be without him! The entire country should be in eternal gratitude to Southampton FC.
Would not fancy playing against Nathan Dyer on my debut. Does at times make even the most astute defenders look like a bit silly.
