http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/november/08/jol-on-contracts No great surprise to learn that the club has activated the option to extent Jol's contract for a third year, and there's some vaguely promising news on Hangeland.
I'm just wondering whether Jol's language doesn't suggest that he's a tad disappointed that the Club didn't make a new offer of 2 or 3 years? He said, “Fulham want to activate the extra year and I’m happy for them to do that". Indeed, I'm wondering why we didn't.
I agree with you on the language thing not showing much excitement on Jol's part, but it's always difficult to judge subtle nuances like this on text alone. Good news all round then!
Me too.. I’d be more than happy if he stayed for another 3 years. I think he’s a top manager.
He certainly seems the man for the job. He's a likeable character (to us fans anyway), might be a bit divisive with the playing staff but that shows he has strong principles and isn't afraid to stick by them. He's overseeing a big change in playing style to one a lot more easy on the eye, and despite his side being a work in progress, it is doing the business (by and large). We love you Big Mart!
I hope he stays a long time too. When we were linked with him first time around (before Hughes was appointed) I came across this article that suggested he plays power games with chairmen - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...nting-more-2031095.html?origin=internalSearch Not that I'm saying he's getting itchy feet with us, or that I don't believe the comment he made when he signed for us about having managed Champions League clubs so not necessarily being interested in leaving us to go and do that again if a bigger club came calling. It's just that everyone's reading of the entrails on his recent comments reminded me of this.
You bloody killjoy, Captain! You're right, he has previous, but we'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it.
I was worried about the above when we appointed him, but nothing that has happened since has given me any reason to doubt. I think he wants to stay here for a while and build something. I agree - at the moment there's no cause for concern. If we gave him a Newcastle-style 8 year contract, I'd be delighted.
