    That's one word for it.

Got to be honest, I fear the worst for his long term fitness. Not being a prophet of doom, just think he might struggle to ever be fully right again.

Just the sad truth with serious Knee injuries. They're never going to be as strong as they were pre-injury, unless Vidic can adapt his style of play (I don't think he can, or at least he wouldn't be nearly as good) I think its safe to say he'll be injured for the majority of his remaining career.

Question now is, do we buy a CB in the summer? Or do we rely on Smalling, Jones, and Evans to be fighting for the starting CB for the future?

If he hasn't managed to return to some sort of decent fitness by the end of the season we should look at getting rid (I heard a Russian club was interested?) and replace him. Best defender in the league when fit but a lot of wage to be paying if he's going to be sat on the sidelines most of the time.

Well if he's not fit doubt anyone will offer much, then we have to consider what he brings to the team off the pitch. Who knows what he does in a coaching capacity ect.

I think we'll start to use him the way we use Rio. Saving him for the bigger games and protecting him when we can.

i think we are over exaggerating here, he just played too many games since his return without a rest until he was out and that's because at the start of the season we had nearly all our defense out so Vidic had to play, Sir Alex had to choice, before Sir Alex did say Vidic won't be starting the season but he did because he had to which made his Knee worse.

He'll be back. The good thing is when he comes back we'll have Jones and Smalling back so we can take care of Vidic and use him wisely until he gets his form and fitness back.

and also maybe if his injury is really serious and ain't strong like they were before then im sure Sir Alex will use him and look after him the way he does with Rio like Jip Jaap Stam said. Play him against Big teams and give him rest now and then.

Its why Sir Alex is doing with Rio and im sure he'll do that with Vidic as well.

When hes fit he is the best defender in the league, give him time, hes too good to sell.

    He ain't done yet.

    Just typical.

Pretty sure i remember reading an article posted on this site about a study which showed those that suffer the same injury that Vidic suffered last year will never go on to regain full fitness/recovery.

As Jip Jap mentions, it may be worth just saving him for the big games and "protecting" him.

Surprised by some of the negativity concerning Vidic.
He was rushed back too soon by Fergie.
Hard as nails his great strength has always been reading the game.
Many more years marshaling the back 4 lie ahead for the skipper.

As far as comments about him "going to be troubled with constant injury woe"
    What of Jones?
I personally fear the boy injury prone beyond all others.

Just going to repost what I posted on the Vidic discussion we had a couple weeks ago.

So if it is this injury he has theres a chance it won't heal and even if it does the underlying causes will still be there.

Theres also that worry with Jones I think, but his body is also still growing, so it's quite possible his injuries can be related to parts of his body still not being fully developed. He's also not nearly as important to the team as Vidic.

At this moment in Jones is seen as a future captain of the side.
I hope you are right of course and he does not turn out to be injury prone,as I fear.

Ivor Biggun; That certainly seems reasonable information.
UTD have the (or are up there with)best medical backroom staff in the sport.
If Vidic(as most physical players entering their 30s)is to be treated with special care to aid his passage fitness-wise
Through what will hopefully be another five or so years at the top then surely he is in the best place?

I for one fail to see UTD choosing any other option.
When fit he's still the top defender in England.

I agree about Vidic when he's fit and I don't think he'll ever choose to leave unless he feels he's not wanted. At the same time he suffered a very serious injury that not all players can come back from, at least at the playing level they were before. His knee is going to be susceptible to more minor injuries that may take a toll on his career. I just hope the club aren't going to rely on Vidic being fit, only for him to spend most of the year out injured.

Vidic stonewalls pretty much everyone in the league, should be banned because can't defend properly
