    Very true, RWAEB. Totally unnecessary.

    MoM, Defoe

    MoM, Silver Medal, Tom Carroll

No player had a stinker. Good game.

    Same team against City?

3-1 FT. Pretty good performance, bar the ridiculous goal. I really hope that we stick with the formation against City, even though it'll be a very different game.
    Style and substance?

Villas-Boas old side Academica beat Atletico Madrid 2-0. I wonder if they rested a load of players? They've already got 9 points.

Don't fancy them having an extra man than us in midfield. They're at home and will be looking to win so I'd expect 4231 to be the choice as it's worked well away against attacking teams so far. It was the change in attitude more than anything for me although I'd love to see more of Carroll and perhaps ahead of Huddlestone for Sunday.

Just left the lane, very good performance tonight. 442 worked work and JD worked well up front with Ade.

Young Tom carrol grew in stature as the game went on and I thought he had a top game.

Great to see Daws back and most- if not all- of his long balls found a white shirt. I hope he retains his place on Sunday.

Down side was their goal, enough said about that!

Brilliant reception given to Fabrice at half time, top man.

The crowd were good tonight, especially the upper shelf. the we'll sing what we want followed by Yid army and yidiho were good. Also a good turn out as well, looked near to 30k tonight.

All in all a good performance and good at the Lane. Long way to go still but encouraging signs tonight.

Huddlestone had a good view of the guy taking his place in the squad tonight - by lining up next to him.

Pleasing performance from Spurs, but lets not forget it was a very poor Maribor side.
It was great seeing Adebayor and Defoe play together, with the former showing the touch and determination that he showed last season. Both played very well.

Carroll was excellent. I really hope his run in the Europa League continues and he gets a chance in the league against the "lesser" teams or in the last 20 minutes of games. Huddlestone was also good.
Bale and Lennon played very well, but Lennon needs to be more greedy in front of goal.

The defence was a little shaky, but apart from the comical goal and the time when Naughton blocked the guy who was through on goal, it held out.

Just hope we perform on Sunday.

Now that was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better, superb stuff from Spurs and but for a ridiculous ref (that's two EL home games in a row) we'd have won by four or five against 9/10 men

What a difference having Ade starting - are you watching AVB!

That's the football we want to see at the Lane not the piss poor stuff we've mainly served up at home this season

Oh and for me Bale MOTM - he was absolutely world class

    JD very close second

  16. It was better, but hardly impressive against the equivalent of a mid-table Championship side.
Some good performances from Defoe, Ade and Bale especially - and Carroll looked quite comfortable. But Hudd (apart from the instant pass for the 3rd goal) did not influence the game and the goal against was a complete clusterf**k. Naughtons pass was blind, but what the hell Lloris was thinking!!
But even if we do play 442 on Saturday, we will be in big trouble if neither Dembele nor Sandro are back at the weekend..... And we also miss Benny!!

Thanks. I was in upper shelf tonight. There is a group called 1882 who decide to go to certain games, sing throughout and stand throughout.

I wouldn't normally have gone with them (I am normally in East lower) but my 16 year old son who stopped coming with me some ten years ago and was disinterested in football has recently got interested again and said he wanted to sit with 1882.

I'm sorry but I'm not convinced.I found myself writhing half the time.Is it going to be normal with our defence passing back a lot of the time?I hate that!

I would like to see our right back going forward most of the time when he get's the ball instead of stopping dead, looking behind and passing back giving the other team's players time to get back.Watch Bale young man and go for their goal!

I hope City don't find them out.......

I loved to see three goals but I suspect Defoe must have thought it was Christmas already!Hope he gets three at City!!!!!
