For the money we paid for Carroll, Downing and Hendo + wages added to Coles wages we could have bought Leeds Utd.<yikes>

Young boys 3-1 up and doing Liverpool a big favour.

assuming they hold out, 2 home wins for Anzi and Liverpool in the next round and there both through with a game to spare.

We played alright tonight. Not sure why everyone's so pissed off. We all know the squads weak but considering there was no Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Allen, Gerrard, Sahin, Suarez or Sterling I thought there were plenty of positives.

Who expected a win tonight? If you did you haven't got your head around our problems at all. A draw would have been nice but our decision making in the final third wasn't good enough.

Whilst its obvious BR is just trying to keep the players chins up by exaggerating how we played, we certainly weren't excellent but also we certainly were not terrible. If our reserves can give Anzhis first team a game on their territory then there's reason for a little optimism at least <ok>

I'd rather have Carroll, Downing, Hendo and Cole <laugh>

The poll was right for once.
Thought this thread was better than the game. Didn't deserve to win and didn't deserve to lose. Boring as they get.

We could always have turned Elland Rd into a gigantic LFC Superstore and made Campbell the manager.<whistle>

What happened to Shelvey? he was ok today but he hasn't been the same from what I've seen since his international call up.

I'm going to give all of the lads the benefit of the doubt, I've seen a better pitch on the Somme in 1917. Looked like moss, not grass.

  16. I agree with this and I think most others on here will too. People aren't so much pissed off with the team, more that the game was very boring and slow <ok>

Yep dev agreed, the youngsters that played against a top Russian team got great experience but it could have been so much better for them if the senior and most expensive/experienced players like Cole, Henderson, Downing had put a proper shift in.<ok>

Yep, I think the commentator said that they hadn't conceded a goal in their 4 previous home European games (5 now) so it wasn't a terrible score line given the opposition.

Wouldn't call them top. thought they were useless, we were just more useless.

  20. They weren't great today but they are a top Russian side still. Maybe they showed too much respect to the Liverpool Football Club name?
