I'd like to think Lenny saw my predictions and pinned them up in the dressing room as motivation to the bhoys. But hey, being negative's worked for me so far. So I predict "another" two pumpings to come
The good news is barca aren't home and dry yet, in terms of qualification or topping the group, so will therefor give their all to win in Moscow/ benfica at the camp nou. Makes it more likely we can get through
Can't be too often 4th seeds make it through, has anyone checked to see if there is the possibility of a world record here?
If it wasn't for the absence of a certain liquidated club in the SPL, we would certainly be 'tap' ...
Yes, very much so. I'm confident that they will qualify ok though but I didn't want it to be at the expense of Celtic whom I love as well. Tactically, I very much wanted and was delighted by last night's result - I want Barca to still be hungry when they play Spartak Moscow and Benefica which hopefully, will help Celtic get through as well.
Don't ask such awkward questions In all honesty, I view them as world's apart and love them both dearly, though if they did ever happen to meet in the final .... well, ask me then!
When Messi son is older , he will ask him , who did you score your first goal against after I was born ?? Answer Celtic , How did you get on , oh we got beat that day son , replied Messi !!!
I noticed that nice Trevor Santos left the forum around about the time of Watt's goal. I do hope he is alright. So many good things to say I will only mention a few for been special. Matthews, I like others thought his form had dropped from the high standards of last season. Totally wrong, playing out of position he was immense. I have heard pundits say if you switch wings as a full back, you get your feet mixed up tackling. I don't think Messi could get away past Matthews tackles. Commons always an attacking player due to all our shortages had to play defensive and put in a massive shift. Mictu, not with club long but ran his heart out upfront and put them under pressure. The rest were just brilliant. I am not so sure that Barcelona would not be stronger if they had our keeper, our back four and big Victor. Six Celts only cost a few million surely they are better than what Barca have in those positions.
The team that started last night cost less than £10million to assemble. Barca brought on two subs that cost £60million. The gap in finances is ridiculous and the fact Celtic competed admirably in both games shows how good a squad Lennon has put together.
I'd be surprised if the starting XI cost more than £5m in transfer fees. Forster £2m, Wanyama 900k, Commons 350k, Sammy £1m. How much did we pay for Ambrose? All the rest of the starters were Bosmans with Miku a loan.
Just one more thing, I would be the most surprised Celtic fan in these islands if Victor or any of the other Celtic stars leave before the end of the season. There is absolutely no way that any footballer no matter how greedy for money or playing in a so called bigger league is going to walk away from what we have and leave the business unfinished. Maybe Kayal may go, for whatever reason he has fallen down in Neil Lennons ratings.
