Can someone on here, explain this to me! Shakhtar and us have played 4 games and each won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1. We've scored 10, conceded 6 (GD +4) and they've scored 7, conceded 5 (GD +2). Yet all the tables I've seen in the press and on here have them ranked above us in our group table! How come?
Cos it's based on head to head records. Therefore I presume they are above us having scored more 'away' goals in our respective 2 games. Mental I know. Imagine getting knocked out of the group on that basis, especially if you had the better goal difference.
Yep. Based on head to head records first. Trying to avoid the problem of having an extremely weak team in a group, that get thrashed 7-0 8-0 and therefore distorts the GD. If both Shaktar and Chelsea end up with the same number of points, Shaktar will go through which is fair as they did better over the 2 head to head matches (having score more away goals).
Annoying , but I suppose its fair in the end! I'd like to think we'll win our last 2 and Juve get a draw against them!
I must agree, I thought Shakhtar were brilliant and dominated a fair amount of the game. Chelsea did finish the game far better though and not being racist, but I thought it was Drogba who scored a last second winner again. Luiz is still a good player in my mind, I just have the belief that he should be your deep lying midfielder. He will have some freedom and can bomb forward as he likes. Still, looking forward to our game on Sunday, should we turn up, I think it could be a high scoring 3-3.
I agree about Luiz, Lucas! I'm lookking forward to Sunday! If it ends up 3-3, I reckon you will be saying it was your best result of the season! For us, nothing but a win will go down favourably!
