Thought as we had two Brugge threads it would be best to merge them so we could follow all the comments on the game on the one thread. Hope everybody is satisfied with this.

Sat having a croissant and hot choc waiting for the euro star to arrive. Match report when I get it in, but no videos. It was a nightmare last night. The bitch that we placed or orders with booked us into a hotel miles away from the brugge stadium. We only just made it to the game, and didn't have time to sort any videos out. It was a good experience though ;)

Here you go Tash, save you a bit of time.

A pretty good match write up taken from NUFC.com

Two stunning goals in three minutes turned around a two-goal deficit in Brugge on Thursday evening, as Newcastle remained on course to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

A fabulous volley from Vurnon Anita - his first strike for the club - and a fine team goal finished off by Shola Ameobi, just before half-time got United back on track after they had been on the end of a quickfire double from the Belgians.

Ivan Trickovski did a fair impression of Luis Suarez in taking down a long through ball before beating Tim Krul in the 14th minute and then Jesper Jorgensen hit a low effort past Krul just five minutes later to completely ruin our Group D clean sheet record.

However, Alan Pardew's mixture of youth and experience managed to get our European campaign back on track thanks to our A-team of Anita and Ameobi who got their first and 14th European goals, respectively.

Cheick Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini joined birthday boy Mike Williamson, Shola Ameobi and Tim Krul to give the side an experienced-looking spine but fringe players and youngsters made up the remainder of the side.

The combination didn't look too successful when the home side punished some suspect defending - Coloccini again being caught out by a long ball through the middle and James Tavernier heading his clearance straight to Jorgensen.

But that woke United - again wearing their luminous green Europe kit - from their slumbers and after Gabriel Obertan had missed an early chance, Sylvain Marveaux mis-kicked from six yards out after Obertan had crossed from the left.

Sammy Ameobi was causing the home defence problems, as was his brother who had escaped punishment for an elbow but it was an unexpected source that fired United's first goal.

A Marveaux cross was headed clear but only as far as Anita and his right-footed volley found the corner of the net to the delight of the 3,000 Newcastle fans who had found their way into various parts of the ground.

That looked to have set up the second half nicely but before the Italian ref could blow for the break, United were back on terms when Sammy Ameobi strode clear and flicked the ball to his brother who broke into the box and toe-poked the ball past Bojan Jorgacevic.

Given that the home side had lost their previous five games - including the 1-0 defeat at St. James' Park a fortnight ago - a second half collapse might have been on the cards but Brugge, with substitute Mohammed Tchite on after half-time, continued to cause problems.

Tiote had to deny Carlos Bacca a run on goal with an inadvertent back heel and Krul had to make a decent stop from Tchite and then from Bacca at the near post.

Our best effort came from substitute Yohan Cabaye who curled a free-kick that hit the angle of post and bar while Krul made more good stops from Tchite and Vadis Odjidja.

Steven Taylor was lucky to get away with a shirt pull in the box on Bacca but a home win would have been harsh on the Magpies who had deserved at least a point for their two-goal comeback.

In the other Group D game, Bordeaux beat Maritimo 1-0 in France meaning that victory for United against bottom side Maritimo at SJP will ensure qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.

    Full match report to follow.

Team: Krul, Anita, Williamson (S.Taylor 58), Coloccini, Tavernier, Tiote, Sa.Ameobi (Amalfitano 83), Marveaux, Bigirimana (Cabaye 72), Obertan, Sh.Ameobi.
Subs n/u: Elliot, Santon, Cisse, Ferguson.

Booked: Tiote, Cabaye. (Tiote now misses our next Group D game against Maritimo).

    Goals: Anita 41, Sh.Ameobi 43

Brugge: Jorgacevic, Hogli, Hoefkens, Almeback, Jordi, Donk, Odjidja-Ofoe (Lagrou 81), Lestienne, Jorgensen, Trickovski (Tchite 46), Bacca.
Subs n/u: Kujovic, Vleminckx, Buysse, Engels, Verstraete.

    Booked: Almeback, Hoefkens.

    Goals: Trickovski 14, Jorgensen 19.

Crowd: 18,000 - it was by no means full but 11,000 empty seats (29k alleged capacity) seems excessive to us. United's fans chanted, "We could have sold all your tickets".

Referee: Luca Banti (Italy) - sleeps with the fishes etc.

After the game Alan Pardew said:

"We are going to have to kick ourselves if we don't beat Maritimo at home, with all due respect to them.

"We have got ourselves in a great position and are looking to just wrap the league up perhaps with that win there, which is our next game."

    About the Ameobis:

"I thought they were both good tonight. We had Ameobi to Ameobi - which is almost like a song - for the second goal, which was nice.

"It was a great little turn from Sammy. He has just got this way of getting out of corners that I have not seen many players being able to get out of. He wriggles out of situations.

"He still needs to tighten up a little bit on the tactical and intelligence sides of the game. He takes people on where perhaps he should pass.

"But he will learn that. He showed his talent tonight - and he marks at set-plays, which he needs to do. He's 6'5".

"He's not very good at it, but he's learning."

    Stats:

Shola and Sammy Ameobi both started - the first time that brothers have done so in a senior competitive fixture for Newcastle since the Robledos back in 1952 (excluding the 1992 Anglo-Italian Cup appearances of the Appleby brothers).
