Quinn McShane Brady Meyler Evans Dudgeon Bruce Devitt I suspect SB is working on who to bring in in January to cover for Aluko who will miss at least 4 games with African Cup of Nations. Can't help but think he will be monitoring Sunderland starters and a certain familiar face.
the movement between Quinn, Koren, and Aluko is ace, always swapping roles with each other. The other teams have no idea which one to pick up when! Amos Chester Faye McShane Elmo Koren Meyler Quinn Rosenior Aluko Simpson Think Meyler may be made to wait as Evans has played brilliantly last two games
Fraizer Campbell ‏@FraizerCampbell “@SAFCofficial: David Meyler has joined Hull City on loan until January 1.” Enjoy it geeza! @DavidMeyler
Could we see a 4-4-2 like this with the injuries we've been carrying. (Koren, Quinn and Aluko still fluid) Amos Elmo/Rosie (whoever is fit) - Chester - Faye- Brady Koren - Myler - Evans - Quinn Aluko - Simpson
oddly enough there was a thread on Meyler on the sunlan section pitching for him to get a start for them and all posters were in favour. very promising loan, I'd drop him in against Cardiff. he's exactly the kind of player a 3-5-2 needs to sit and protect the back 3.
If Meyler can't get into a struggling team then the future does not look great for him at Sunderland. I reckon it will all depend on what business they themselves do in January whether we can have Meyler for an extended period or permanently.
Really hope not, looked far better 3-5-2 , I expect Meyer to start on the bench and put the pressure on Evans to keep up his form
I just wonder if Bruce will be nervous of Cardiff's attacking threat and with Bruce Jnr probably out he'd have to play McShane, who was poor against Wolves(there's still a chance Rosie or Elmo might not make it either).
Lammie, Macca wasnt poor against Wolves. YES he made a mistake after Amos committed a howler of a clearance, but everyones favourite defender made more mistakes in that game than Macca. There, Ive said it!!!!!!!!!
I thought he was exceptionally poor in the second half, not just the pantomime defending after Amos's crap clearance, but throughout the whole second half.
In the highlights of the past couple of games, I must admit, I have seen a couple of classic McShane cock-ups creeping in again. Not taking anything away from the great couple of performances before that though.
I'm with you on this, old man. I think McShane hass done well enough recently, but he had a bad match at Wolves, especially in the 2nd half (maybe as Bruce wasn't there to sit behind him ). Bruce played better and he was clearly carrying an injury from the start. What's with Hobbs ? Thought he was due back in October. Is he close to a return ?
I somehow forgot about Evans, but I was going along the lines of Eire rather than Northern Ireland. Dudgeon like Bruce isn't actually Northern Irish in any sense other than they play for their national team through tenuous lineage. And until Devitt came back today he wasn't part of the squad and he will probably go back out on loan as he hasn't played for us this season.
I think they have arranged a behind closed doors game for this week or next that he will play some part in. Small steps and all that. Then I suppose he'll play in the next reserve game for a bit longer, I can't see him getting a chance in the first team for 3-4 weeks.
Hobbs is back in full training, but he'll have a few behind closed door/reserve games before he's fully back in the fold, I'm hopeful we'll at least see him on the bench before the end of the month.
I agree. Myself and a few others around me had already commented how shaky Macca looked in the 2nd half before his howler.
