Dear oh dear, the point is not what you say it is, the point is still that I've provided club stance and you haven't. Your point, no better than a tangent anyway, once again is an empty statement...'if' they get a complaint, lets see one first, not had one in 40 yrs, so don't hold your breath...actually, please do! Quite right its not a 'reasonable defence', its perfect, this has been going on since the 70's, forty years on and someone 'might' now complain??, you really should be quiet until evidence is provided that someone officially has. Btw, I 'might' win the lottery.
Your club admitted that 'Those who are sensitive to the issues of the Jewish community would choose not to use it' One can only surmise that your fans are not sensitive to it, as you keep trying to defend it. Your club have also admitted to trying to 'educate' your fans about the issue. Judging by some of the responses on here, it seems that that may take some time. Some Jews have already made complaints, the fact that they haven't been addressed is not evidence of no complaints, it's evidence of inaction. It takes time to change attitudes, how many complaints from black people did it take to end racism ? How many complaints from Gays did it take to end Homophobia ? In the end, Spurs fans will have to abide by the law on discrimination, regardless of what they feel their intent is. Maybe one day even you will understand that
ffs one of the moderators for this oboard is "Yid Viciouse" pardon my spelling. last time I checked yid was short for Yiddish
Suffice to say that had there been any significant volume of complaints on this subject, I think we can be assured that the club and or the authorities would have acted. P.s. I think there might be football match on this evening!...
There have been complaints. The club and the authorities are trying to act, it's your fans who are lagging behind.
ahh the perceived racism rears its ugly head. Words being banned, people are afraid to type the work ****** when its in films books music TV and every day life. Yid is that not short for Yiddish? Hardly racist, stereotyping yes racist absolutely not, and certainly not in the context of a Spurs fan, they're called Yids so this is all overactive PC nonsense, not nice when your club is slated is it
Lame WUM. Why not concentrate on the issues of your club (struggling squad, lack of decent business) rather than trying to wind up these Yids?
On to tonoght. I will be chanting at the lane and singing the fact that I am a proud and true YID! If I am stopped I will complain to the authorities about teams calling themselves REDS as, as a communist I find it offensive.
Peter Herbert is now threatening us with a police complaint for "offending people's intelligence" by calmly and concisely informing him how full of **** he is. I suggest the next step is for the Society for Tottenham Hotspur's Lawyers to slap him with a defamation suit.
This is getting ridiculous. Is the lawyer behind this an Ar5ena1 fan? While having followed Spurs for over 50 years, my local team is Cardiff. As you will know English fans refer to us as "sheep shaggers". Not sure why, please explain? Our response to this, particularly when taking the lead in a game, is the good natured chant of "1 - 0 to the sheep shaggers". This can also be regarded as a defensive chant to promote our identity. Is this racism? After taking Tottenham to court, will our learned friend then select Cardiff City as the next on his list in his quest to drive any perceived (to him anyway) racism from all walks of life?
The club only admitted something that is clearly obvious....IF a complaint came in...do you have evidence of one...no, didn't think so. The links I provided state the club will defend the use of the Y word, that is the point which trumps anything incidental you may have to offer, which so far is ,if, but and maybe. Game over I'd say!
This lawyer is only in it to line his own pocket, you can be sure that if there is a rash of cases going to court over so called racism, that members of the society of black lawyers will be involved and charging obscene amounts of money, weather the case is won or lost. Its basically in there interests to make a big fuss about this as it will keep them in business for decades to come. And who do you think people of ethnic minorities will turn to for advice and guidance, the society of black lawyers of course, thing is it will probably end up costing us the tax payer a fortune, between all the wasted police time, as they are obliged to investigate, and wasted court time.
Totally agree Enigma. He's playing the game big time never mind the implications on the many thousands of people his time in the spotlight will impact upon. I see a Jewish Oldham player wants everyone who chants "Yid" to be ejected from the ground - a big job for the stewards and police then. Not many left in the ground at the end of the game. So has this player ever played at WHL to have experienced the chant and be offended by it or is just another band waggon jumper?
'Earlier on Wednesday, Spurs released a statement arguing that "real anti-Semitic abuse, such as hissing to simulate the noise of gas chambers, is the real evil and the real offence"' can spurs fans say if this goes on?
My lot always sing South london gypsies to Crystal palace. Will we have to stop this for fear of offending the travelling community?
If the current tide of PC madness doesn't subside, then I'm afraid the answer will certainly be yes!.
