The other teams in their group are Zambia, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso, none of which are great footballing nations(though Zambia were surprise winners last time), so it's likely they'll progress.

Short? We'd be ****ing minuscule! Aluko's the only goal-threat we have! No worries there, Nigeria are ****e these days
Seems like a self-defeating exercise from Bruce. "I hope he doesn't get called up...I know, I'll discuss my fears to the press. Hopefully they don't have the internet at the Nigerian FA."
Aluko our only goal threat? What about Simpson? Prosy scored a couple of decent goals on his last outing, and Koren can score as well. Not saying it's not a concern , but might not be the end of the world, especially if we sign some cover in Jan - which must be on the cards with Fryatt out.
Proschwitz has missed more sitters than he's scored goals. Wow, he got a couple against the worst team in the league (so far) because of terrible defending, but he's not the answer to our goal-scoring problems. I can tell you that for nothing. He needs a loan move to a League One side IMO, but I can't see anyone out of him, his agent, Bruce or Allam agreeing with me. Simpson can't hit a barn-door with a banjo most weeks, even if he did score a decent goal on Tuesday (a night where he scuffed a far better chance), and without Aluko to link up with him there's absolutely ****-all chance of him getting goals on a regular basis. Koren looks disinterested at the moment, and in the last two matches I've forgotten that he's even playing. He's also not a forward, and if you're relying on a central-midfielder to bail you out in terms of goals then you're clearly doing something wrong
Except the other striker we have who's scored as many goals, in less games and with less chances. Yeah it does seem a bit pointless. Especially the line where he says he hopes news of his form hasn't got to Nigeria. Well it'll be coming up on their newsnow page now won't it?! Not defending Prozzy but when has he missed sitters? From what I've seen his problem is actually getting in the game. Once he gets the chance i front of goal I think he looks pretty clinical (although that is largely based on watching him warm up).
According to this link, Aluko hasn't been called up for Nigeria's friendly this month. I suppose that could mean either that he has done enough already to get a call up for the ANC, or the coach doesn't rate him... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20236419
i think i am right in saying that aluko has not played a senior competative game for nigeria and thus still qualifies to play for England
Has he actually played for Nigeria recently though? I think he would have been included in this friendly squad if he was in the manager's thoughts for the ACN as it's not like he's an established player and the manager is resting him/doesn't think he'd learn much from playing him in the friendly.
He's played twice for Nigeria, his debut was a friendly against Ireland and he played in their Afcon qualifier against Rwanda in June. He's definitely in their plans, though there's a chance he may not make the final cut.
