It was so long ago now that I cannot actually remember anything about the game itself when Gerry Summers was our manager. What keeps it in my memory is that on entering the ground we were given vouchers and I believed for some reason they were linked to Manchester United. I can remember touts entering the away end in an attempt to purchase the vouchers off the travelling Gillingham fans. After some assistance from my Green friends before we previously met last season, they were able to confirm that these vouchers were indeed for a Manchester United European game being played at Home Park a few days later the 5th October 1977... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2005/apr/06/theknowledge.sport Not often you actually get a freebie when following your team but on this occasion my travelling costs and full expenditure for that away game were covered by none other than the Manchester United supporters. It appears checking the statistics on that day in 1977, Gillingham won 3-1 this is only one of four victories in 35 outings to Home Park. So 35 years on and not much has changed. Both Gillingham and Plymouth are still occupying the lower divisions of the league structure, with more modern stadiums now but much the same fortunes. and not forgetting Kedwell's first league goal cannot call this game, Plymouth beat Rochdale at home in their last home game (pre - Burton), Rochdale having taken the points off us at Priestfield, long journey with few wins at Home Park and the Greens may well remind us of the sponge man last season, so...
