I've only 'changed my argument' because I was going on misleading information provided by yourself. I'm not sure why you're bringing up Wikipedia as all I used it for was to see when he left Newcastle and when he joined Man Utd.

Generally those clauses only apply to younger players, and only when the original club is after a compensation fee. Neither of those two apply to this case. You can believe rumours from tabloids all you like but I prefer to see some actual evidence or at least quotes from people involved.

They don't only apply to players under 24 actually mate <ok> Read the rules!

And seeing as you're not going to bust your arse to disprove it all, I don't see the point in whinging!

I'm fairly sure they do only apply to players under 24, and only when the club is seeking a compensation fee. Legal wording is difficult to follow but in both the Football League and the Premier League's rules that seems to be the case.

No one's whinging. I just don't believe that we would have paid much, if anything, to Owen beyond his contract expiration date.

Have you read section V of the current handbook? It's around pages 182-185, after the ownership, staff appointments etc. It has a few stipulations beyond that of 24 year olds. Eg. in the case where "Form 30" is followed. <ok>

Well, I am very willing for you to completely disprove to me that this incident occurred, and would willingly accept responsibility as a c**t for falsely purveying the information of a complete c**t who made up the story. So prove away, my man, prove away. Usually when the tabloids print something in the order of defamation, they get hammered in court, yet that seems not to be the case here at all. There is no criticism of the article other than your insistence that it couldn't happen.

Either that, or wait for Owen to get back from watching the ball go over his head for a few hours (training) and confirm/deny the story... If he doesn't respond, you can believe what you want, and I'll think he's a c**t til otherwise proved <ok>

I have read it. I really don't think any of it applies to what happened with Owen. It's all about younger players and when the club wants their compensation. As I said earlier I'm not a lawyer and I may well be wrong, but I don't think those clauses would have applied.

I'm not trying to call you or anyone else a c**t, I just think it's a misinterpretation of the rules.
