I agree. 4-4-2 and it's many variations just don't suit us. Too rigid and not enough men in the midfield to link the strikers. 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. That is the way forward for us.

Me neither. It's like a deep state of depressing acknowledgement that we aren't good enough at the moment. Like a constant dead leg. The pain of losing consistently.

Here we go. Shots (on target in brackets): West Brom 17 (3) - Southampton 10 (3). So we had 3 shots on target each. Wow they were effective.

Here are some more stats that show why West Brom were so comfortable.

    Possession: West Brom 43.5% - Saints 56.5%
    Passes (accuracy in brackets): West Brom 381 (79%) - Saints 501 (83%)
Passes in the final third (accuracy in brackets): West Brom 135 (70%) - Saints 130 (63%)

Im getting seriously pissed off with losing games of football but thats probably because im used to supporting a winning team. Dont want to see Nigel sacked but NC is not known for his patience and will look like a bit of a fool if he does nothing after promising that SFC will never get relegated whilst he is in charge.

As Jake said, just enjoy the football and the Premier League, cheer the team on, get bladdered, etc. If we go down, no biggy, we're still within the 5 year plan. It's just a game mate. We all need to remind ourselves of that.

Keeping more possession of the ball will not win us games. We need to create with it no matter how much we have of it. Fox's days are numbered i feel and Yoshida isn't to standard i'm afraid. JRod for me is still learning and is working hard although not setting the world alight.

That said i was so proud to be a saint when you could hear our supporters singing in the face of another defeat. We keep battling, keep believing and we will pick up points. Whether its enough to stay up this year i'm not sure but it is just great to be playing in the Prem. Stay in touch til Jan and then it's down to NC and his Cheque book to decide our fate.

This might sound odd given last night's result but I think that if you can beat Swansea at the weekend then you have a real chance of getting out of this given your next run of fixtures. There has been talk on here of 17 points from your next ten games (9 now) That isn't realistic but 11 or 12 is and 17 points from 19 games would give you a chance.I think 36 will be enough this year.

I'm not convinced we will get enough wins. Our current team seem to only motivate themselves at the moment by chasing a game.
If that continues then fighting for draws will not get us anywhere near our required points tally.

We must try and enjoy the ride and as you say a couple of wins and who knows.

Not happy at all. Dreadful, in particular after we went 2-0 down. The players seemed to give up after we went 2-0 down. Sure they passed it well... in their own ****ing half. No plan B and there was no hurry to take throw ins, free kicks and corners. A complete joke. Oh, and Adkins tactical decisions were downright strange again. Why did it take so long to take Rodriguez off? He did jack ****. And I don't care if Ramirez was getting tired, you've got to leave him on. We had one clear chance all night for all our possession and that is simply not good enough. We must win on Saturday.

Can't agree with that at all. It is of considerable importance we stay in the PL. If we go down it may not be many years until we get back.

As GN said last night the next 6 games are massive. A couple of wins and we give ourselves a chance. Get to January adrift and even the window won't save us. WE CAN DO THIS THOUGH!

Not unexpected result and we are still in the same position, but one more game gone and worse GD. I note that GD was very important to Saints in the past when in the PL. Usually I can't watch Saints on TV, but I was interested enough to see the whole game as I thought we were always still in with a chance. However, even forgetting the 2 goals conceded, we seem to have stopped scoring. We need to score more with our style of play. As Gary Neville said, we set ourselves up in the right way to defend and then individual carelessness/accident/bad luck is our undoing.
We must begin to resign ourselves to losing Nigel if something doesn't change soon. He doesn't sound like a man confident that he will be staying...our loss will be another teams gain. Whether another manager can do better is a moot point. The problems stem from our initial premise of not being interested in experienced PL players as we want to concentrate on a certain style and building a young team. It was a choice which could have worked, but hasn't (up till now).
We are not out of this as a few wins will still improve the picture, but we also need others to struggle. There are still others teams that could do worse than us if things turn round and we buy/loan wisely in January.

Note to team: when ball is passed to you, you may have to go and get it before the opposition steal it off you...we are not in the Championship now.

I think there is a bigger issue here. We may be willing to go down and come back up, but will NC and the Leihberrs. If Nicola gets fed up, I think the club may be sold. We will be in a better position than before, but there are a lot of sharks out there. Ask Pompey, ask Comet (who appear to have been asset stripped).

The pressure has been building up gradually, now it has reached boiling point. Time to win some games of football.
