Surely now even at 17 we need to start Luke shaw.
Fox just isn't up to premier league football.defensively slow ,poor in possession and always likely to give fouls away man handling whoever he's marking.

Start him against Swansea I say. Made a few good tackles in the few minutes he played and didn't really see him give it away. Fox is such a liability with his constant hoofing.

Tbh I think you are right, he looked composed when he came on this evening and although Fox didn't actually have his worst game of the season I think now is time for the change.

Thought Fox was actually pretty good today. I would like to see a more defensive left midfielder though. Shaw ahead of Fox or Fox ahead of Shaw should make us more solid down that flank, which we desperately need.

Fox's best game of the season tonight....in answer to the OP question..............

...Yes it's time for Shaw :) Fox's best game was still only a 5/10

I think the reason he came on tonight was to prepare Shaw for Saturday coz he will start!

Lallana tracked back more than enough for me.

I have no problem with Shaw playing but I would say that people have been complaining about Fox "hoofing it" for a long time and I don't think that's a fair criticism. He's probably been told to do that and at the very least has never been told to stop doing it. There is no way he'd have been in the team for so long if he was ignoring the manager's instructions.

Fox isn't the problem. Stupid to scapegoat him.

Its not a case of scapegoats
Fox isn't the only problem but when you've got a young fit replacement with bags of potential then why not use him?
Unfortunately we haven't got adequate replacements for certain other individuals (fonte).

I would have Sandy Shaw over Fox , that 2nd goal was partly his fault , he loses his man always , he is not a defender , he could make lm at push but no way a defender .

Problem being that if we throw him in as a 17 year old and he isn't up to standard it could destroy his confidence, and may effect his development. Personally think we've got no other option than to persevere with Fox, giving Shaw the odd game, until Jan then bring in a new LB and try to sell Fox.

Surely we're at the stage where the pressure is at its lowest as the defence has been so poor

Fox wasn't our worst player tonight. But the players that were worse than him don't have any viable alternatives, sod it give him a go.

I don't understand this argument, people keep saying we played Bale, Walcott and Chamberlain from 16/17 years old. Yes we did, in a lower much less demanding league(s) where there is no where near the media coverage, pressure as the PL.

If we were in the Prem at the time of those 3 breaking through I doubt we would have seen them play anywhere near as regularly as they did

Who is then? From the game i watched tonight Lallana played very very defensive today, and looked to do more work as a left back than Fox, who sort of stood back and let crosses fly over him. He plays far too narrow. He hoofs it far too often, Ithink he dwells on the ball too often, and when he takes our set pieces, he is very often caught ball watching and wanting to stay up rather than track back.

Tell me why you think he warrants a place in the team? Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested to hear what people see in him, other than his obvious good left foot set pieces.
