I did in terms of Rosicky and Diaby, but then I was attacked as simply being 'negative', lol, once again, fans like myself, have been proven correct, and the blind delusionists, have been shown to be just that, blind delusionists who'd tell you to stay on the Titanic and that everything's fine even as the ship is sinking. Nuri Sahin sure would've looked like a good player to have in the midfield ranks right about now.
Meh. Not been impressed by Sahin one bit. He has looked slow and can't get used to the pace of the PL. You could argue that he needs time, but we needed a player for the now. Not one that would have spent a year trying to get back to his best and trying to adjust to a new league and then **** off at the end of his loan spell. In hindsight it's clear to see why Wenger wanted the option to buy, he saw what was coming a mile off. He called that one correct.
Whether it was Sahin or someone else, there is no debate about the fact that we needed another new midfielder. We have a good starting midfield, Arteta, Cazorla, Wilshere, and Diaby, Rosicky when all fit and ready, are a very strong midfield. But here's the problem, Diaby is never fit, Rosicky wasn't fit coming into the season and is injury prone as well, Wilshere is just getting back from a year lay off, all of this leaves you with 2 quality midfielders to rely on, Arteta and Cazorla, Ramsey is pure ****, end of story, he's hopeless. Coqualan is good, but not what we really need, the same with Frimpong. All of this was known going into the season, yet, we chose not to act, and chose not go bring in at least 1 more quality midfielder.
You do not need to tell me that. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/135143-The-Arsenal-Transfer-Rumours-Thread/page165
Someone saying that our midfield was fine, and didn't need any new midfielder to be added, as we were stacked with depth, and that we could rely on an injury prone Diaby, and an injury prone Rosicky who was even out injured at the time!!!!!!!!!!!! And someone saying that a fan like me, was simply being negative in saying it was an utter SHAME that we didn't make any further signings to rectify this problem, and now, I'VE BEEN PROVEN RIGHT. Diaby's out, as PREDICTED. Rosick's out, as PREDICTED.
He mentioned about some of the injured players in his pre-match press conference before Saturday's game
Except he didn't say that at all. He said that he would add one more if the opportunity arose. He was in for Sahin, but there was no option to buy. So there was no point taking on a player, who if he had a good season would be taken back, all we would have done is pay his wages for a year.
Sahin was terrible business. I'm glad Arsenal didn't get him. However, Arsenal were and are light in midfield. Imagine if Jack had not come back right now, they'd be in serious trouble. Get rid of Diaby in Jan, I've completely run out of patience with him. Either he's a crock of the medical team just can't handle him. Either way, he's taking up wage space.
Except he did, he said he would add one more if the opportunity arose, BUT IF IT DIDN'T, it wouldn't be a problem as we have enough numbers in midfield already, naming the likes of Diaby and Rosicky, so get your quotes right buddy. Basically, he affirmed that our midfield was already good enough and it wasn't a big deal if we didn't get one more player, which off course, as we currently see, is a load of horse sh!t.
It's time to let go of Diaby and Rosicky, and that allows space for 2 incoming top quality midfielders, and with Arshavin going, it allows for the promotion of a youngster to the team, Gnarby, see? Everybody wins, we remain true to Arsenal's philosophy of promoting youth, AND, we also strengthen the squad with new players. Two new quality midfielders for Arsenal could make the difference between challenging for major trophies, or pathetically challenging for top 4. Oh and yes, when we bring new incoming players, NO TOP QUALITY PLAYERS GO OUT, so let's not buy new players only to get rid of Cazorla and Arteta in the process, and even Theo. Let's keep our good players, get rid of the average players, and injury prone players, and ADD QUALITY to the quality we already have.
Rosicky? Don't complain about letting top guys go if you are advocating for he and to an extetnt Diaby's sale. Rosicky is one of the biggest reasons for our resurgence last season.
Rosicky and Diaby will never been consistently fit, so there's no problem in letting them go. When's the last time Diaby gave us a full season, erm yeah, NEVER. I don't think Diaby's even ever managed 10 straight league games.
And then we sell them to other teams, they play fantastically, people start moaning about why we sold them. After Eduardo's injury people were claiming he be sold (others said we should keep him) wensold him and those same people started moaning about his sale. People said RvP would never play a full season and yet look at his season last year.
RVP actually gave us a season in 08-09, so he proved capable of going fit for a season, Diaby's NEVER done that. Rosicky has only give us 1 full season as well, his first, lol, other than that, he's always been injured. RVP was also fit for the majority of the 2010 season. If we sell them 2, and they start playing fantastically, I won't moan, I'll say good on them, and the initial sale was the right thing to do.
Diaby is worse than RvP ever was. I'd advocate for keeping Rosicky, if we were ever told what was up with him!! The lack of news is infuriating. I was all for selling Eduardo, and maintain it was the right decision. He wasn't a target man, nor a winger. He played great in a 442, but couldn't be the focal point of a 433, so he wasn't suited for the new-look Arsenal system.
Rosicky and Diaby when fit are absolute class. Look at the way Diaby took apart liverpool on his own - he is a yaya toure type player. Rosicky is very good as well, look at the second half of last season, we relied on him heavily in midfield. These two players are definately of Arsenal quality. I'd rather we kept players like this who are good enough but suffer with injuries but i'd prefer they had contracts which stipulate they earn less basic wage and higher appearance fees. We should also assume these players are a bit of a luxury - when they are available they will strengthen the team and play very well, when they are not available we should expect them not to be available. I was one of the people that thought we where packed with depth in midfield. And we are to be honest, we have lots of options and a variety of different types of players. I just think the balance between youth/experience is slightly off and we maybe need one more older midfield player who is already very good. For me though a creative Arsahvin/Nasri/Cazorla type winger is needed in the squad. I wish we had got Affeley before he went to Shalke. If he hasn't got a spot at Braca next year i'd put in an offer.
