Just Just for fuxake It's like some sort of Creationist claiming that any hole in any alternative theories MUST prove the crackpotiest, default one. So, the reason some teams are up and some are down is the same cause. If it was different teams that were up and down, the same cause would be cited I reckon our attendances will probably be up by the end of the season. No-one is paying to see the League Cup - I'm not and I'll not be going to Hampden either. I predict another seven pages of this ****e where Medro will magically at certain points try to claim the opposite of what he claims in directly following posts supplemented by him accusing others of doing same. "So, St Mirren's attendances are UP??!! That must be because there's no Rangers" "So, Celtic's attendances are down (given the home League Cup games)??!! That must be because there's no Rangers." "So, attendances are neither up nor down??!!?? That must be because of Rangers." We have always been at war with Eurasia
Only one SPL team can qualify for the CL and, as you and Neville et al. claim, Celtic are guaranteed to win the SPL. Oh dear, looks like your argument has been blootered much like your dunger at the weekend young Medders.
So, 11th place St Mirren are attracting more spectators because they're up for the Champions League?? This is your silliest assertion yet. I'd like to state that the rash dramatic increase in silly assertions is because there's no Rangers in the SPL. I may well change that to it being the cause of a decrease in silly assertions should it suit my argument at the time cos that, it appears, is how ****s roll
Well then let's use the same analogy for a team qualifying for the Europa League who perhaps may not normally qualify for Europe. Do you think the possibility of them getting into Europe would see more or less fans turn up for games?
Yawn. Taking 2008-9 as a the last season before the recession properly kicked in, only Motherwell have bucked the trend for decreasing attendances. You could use the stats from 2007-8 if you wanted, it'd be the same answer. Arbitrarily deciding on 2009-10 as your starting point (when we were already 18-24months into a recession) proves nothing about the effects of that recession. Celtic (-11.7%) 2008-9 - 57,671 2011-12 - 50,904 Rangers (-6.5%) 2008-9 - 49,534 2011-12 - 46,324 Hearts (-7%) 2008-9 - 14398, 2011-12 - 13381 Hibs (-22%) 2008-9 - 12684 2011-12 - 9909 Aberdeen (-28%) 2008-9 - 12929 2011-12 - 9297 Dundee Utd (-13.5%) 2008-9 - 8654 2011-12 - 7482 Kilmarnock (-3.3%) 2008-9 - 5727 2011-12 - 5537 Motherwell (+7.7%) 2008-9 - 5522 2011-12 - 5946 St Mirren (-17%) 2008-9 - 5411 2011-12 - 4493 ICT (-9.7%) 2008-9 - 4457 2011-12 - 4023
The level of Timmy stupidity in this thread is ridiculous. I can't even see why they're so reluctant to admit the obvious.
A lot of my mates are St Mirren fans. None of them are going along believing they're getting into Europe. None. of. them. Their attendance being up/down will largely depend on who they're playing and the timing of the games. Curiously, since one Rangers blogger said they'd be the first team to "go under" without Rangers and that they would be the team that "would see the biggest decrease" in money through the gate, they appear to be doing just the same as before. "St Mirren fans have voted to voluntarily go out of business rather than allow Rangers into the SPL - that's a SPECIAL sort of hatred" ^^ Oooh look, St Mirren are in the black, playing extremely ineffective football and still getting roughly the same crowds they did when Rangers were in the league. Armageddon, eh?
Levels of "timmy stupidity" go up = because of Rangers Levels of "timmy stupidity" go down = because of Rangers Can't explain the irreducible complexity of a kangaroo's ankle joint? Must've been designed by God If you've decided the answer for something before seeing the data, you'll fit the data to your presumptions.
Well I have quite a few St.Mirren fans and they are think they have a good chance of getting into Europe. All of them. See how relevant that makes your comment. A Rangers blogger suggested St.mirren's downfall? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/st-mirren-chief-stewart-gilmour-1166826
This board was full of you fannies in May telling everyone the SPL was going to die on it's arse within 6 months of Rangers demise. Apparently the attendances were going to plummet faster than Sevco through the divisions. 3 teams out of 12 have decreased attendances. You could argue that Celtic have decreased domestic attendances on two fronts; 1. No Rangers to challenge but also 2. Champions League football. Which is more exciting than the SPL and also a drain on the bank account.
1. not really as only 1 team gets in now 2. this wasnt your stance when the spl was facing financial "armageddon"...
It's got a lot of competition but this could be the most ******ed thing you've ever posted. 1. I've mentioned my mates being St Mirren fans previously, if you making any old ****e up clearly without precident negates any point from personal experience, then you are even more amoeba-like than I thought. 2. You just posted a chairman's (deeply unpopular with his club's fans) assertions based on the bullshit that was fed to them by the SFA and SPL in an attempt to keep a new Rangers in the SPL. As it turned out, that all proved (including the much discussed TV deal) to be absolute pish of the highest order. So, the change in financial forecasts for St Mirren? Going bust because of Rangers absence? Getting higher direct revenue because of Rangers absence? Oh, aye, both are true depending on the (******ed) point you're trying to make. Pathetic.
Good point, no one has questioned the validity of Dev's claims attendances have risen for all but 3 teams. Where did you get these stats from Dev?
