Arkle <laugh> RUBY has not tried to win ONE of the titles AP has. When he is out grafting his arse off riding donkeys at Plumpton Ruby is sat in Ireland having a Guinness thinking about riding Hurricane Fly whilst AP rides FACTOTUM

I know who I would rather have on a novice chaser that is for sure ;)

And your point is RV ??

Are you suggesting people will talk about Ruby Walsh in years to come the way they will talk about AP McCoy ??

    Seriously ??

By the way...Ruby's win percentage rate to rides is not better than APs and he rides enough "donkeys" of his own in Ireland !!

Indeed Dan...they will..and they will talk about Ruby Walsh in horse-racing circles only !

AP McCoy will be remembered in Sport...not just horse-racing.....Sports Personality Of The Year 2010...and rider of over 4000 winners by the time his career is over !

OddDog....there is no Arkle v Kauto Star...it insults anyone who knows what a phenomenon "Himself" was to even suggest that !!

As for Denman v Kauto Star...well we all know the final score there....3-1 !

Come to the top races how far behind is AP <whistle>

made a right arse of himself on Kauto Star as well. Even Clive Smith blasted him <laugh> - RUBY shows him up in terms of being a "horseman"

Being a jockey is not about just one ride and obviously jockeys who ride certain horses regularly will know them better than someone stepping in as a one -off !

So what that AP didn't ride KS so well....neither did Ruby when he fell off him 3 times previously and the horse made countless mistakes in his career some of which Ruby blamed himself for !

Each can have their own opinion..though the record books are there to be seen and digested by all !

Even "THE TANK" got rid of AP <laugh> never looked like Unseating/falling under Walsh

    Mccoy and Denman 0/3 <rofl>

Cheltenham Festival records are there to be seen and digested by all as well ;)

Not at all wrong again...I am talking about Ruby Walsh win percentage in Ireland where he rides most of the time !!

If you compare both jockeys records in their entire career there is only one winner...and that is AP McCoy !

Anyway, just dwell on the fact he was Sports Personality Of The Year...an incredible achievement by any jockey and one which is most unlikely to ever be repeated !

This thread is all about AP and rightly so !

So no comment on the Denman situation ;)

This thread is all about AP and rightly so

Yes just like the KAUTO STAR thread was about KAUTO STAR before you come in comparing him to Arkle.

As for Sports Personality of the year who really cares. Gazza won that ffs ;) <ale>

That's the point really. Nobody is ever going to question the assertion that McCoy is an unbelivable jockey. You just don't win 3000 races by accident. However, Ruby gets many of the top rides in Britain and Ireland and it's not an accident. No trainer / owner is going to keep a jockey who isn't doing the job properly and Ruby's grade 1 record speaks for itself. It's about favourites and different styles really - many love McCoy whilst some of us prefer Ruby. It doesn't mean we don't respect either's achievements.

Just to add, it is a bit unfair to use the Sports Personality of the Year argument. Ruby's not even eligible for it. On that criteria you might as well say Damon hill was a better driver than Michael Schumacher

RV..the only reason Arkle was mentioned on the Kauto Star thread was that it was insulting that some there tried to insinuate Kauto Star was the greatest ever steeplechaser when he is far from that...not even in the top 10 in history in many peoples eyes !

AP McCoy chose to move to JP McManus and he rode for the most powerful stable in the land before when with Martin Pipe...obviously if he had become Nicholls jockey instead then he would have had all the successes on the star horses that Walsh has had..though he has actually won on several Nicholls horses also including on star chaser Master Minded !

AP remains the greatest NH jockey we have seen to date !

So to summerise, if I compare ArkleSupreme to RainbowView in the posters championship, I have to look at the number of posts rather than the quality of posts?

RV = champion poster and therefore the best ever Not606er
AS = only remembered by those he annoys.

    Sorted.
