Regarding RDM, I think he's done a lot better than most of us anticipated, but I think as the season progresses and things start to go against Chelsea, injury crisis, form drops off, he'll start to falter a bit and crack under the pressure. Regarding Pep, I can see City ditching Mancini, but I don't think they'd be dumb enough to let Mancini know he's out of a job in the summer in January. Roman on the other hand would be, so that's a possibility. United would make sense for Pep, Fergie wouldn't leave he'd retire, or I'd imagine at that point become the Director of Football, so he can just ease himself out. Although I'm not sure if SAF is ready to step down.

If he doesn't, I'll show my arse on the town hall steps and post a picture of it on here so you'll all get a treat! I'm not sure he's the absolute man for the job as I would see him as being relatively short term but he's a top manager. Manager being the operative word, he may well have had a decent bunch of players to work with but he still had to manage them, it's clear and only a tit would think otherwise. That's what we currently have, the best manager ever. As a coach Fergie is **** but he gets the best out of players which is the blueprint for success.
Might be for you, but unlikely to be a treat for me I am also sceptical about the acheivements of people who follow on from others at a previously successful club. Look at Dalglish. He is a sh1t manager but he inherited the successful systems and players before him and all he had to do was to continue the same. Once he was asked to implement his own system and bring his own players, he was found out to be absolute rubbish. Most of the players he brought were no good enough and so was his football. So was Paisley Continued the previous system. Never had to do it at another club. Whereas SAF had to turn round an underachieving side. So I do not thnk that Pep has proved himself yet. Yes, he has been successful at Barca. But he played there, he knew the system and the culture. Would he adapt to United's? He may or may not but would people take such a big gamble. Mourinho has shown that he can deliver success at different clubs. I would go for him rather than anyone else including Pep, or Moyes.
The Daily Mail say at lot of things, most of it ****. This sounds daft but I was up Manchester last weekend and heard from a source (who has so far never been wrong) that the strong hint was that Guardiola had been sounded out to take over for the start of next season. That's where I got it from. Could be bollocks of course, but it sounds to have a good grain of truth to it and little tips I've had before have always come in. He's never a City manager. Mourinho would be more suited to that lot (not that he also wouldn't be suited to us!) Christian, you could well be bang on regarding Guardiola not being able to adapt to United. On the other hand, unless we're thinking of Phelan or McClair there's not exactly someone in the club who could take it on and it's way too soon for Giggs for instance.
I was more on about recruiting someone external who was a one man club rather promoting from the inside. I cannot see anyone internal good enough to step into these massive shoes and to take such huge responsbilities. I thought earlier that Robbo could do it, then Brucie, then Sparky but they have all fallen by the wayside. Also I thought Kidd, McClaren, Queroz etc could step up but one thing I have learnt is that a good number 2 will never make a good number 1, unless all they do is carry on the previous successful system.
We have a unique situation, whoever takes over has to attempt to replace the greatest football manager ever. Think back about everything Sir Alex has done for the club, the next person to take charge has to attempt to fill that void. Theres no experience you can get for that as a football manager, which is why I don't think managerial experience is the be all end all for the job. When it comes down to it, it's which candidate will continue to develop youth out of out academy, use the scouting system to find young exciting talents and then develop them into world class talent, and maintain the winning mentality we all associate with Manchester United. Are we looking to start another "dynasty"? Are we looking for a manager who can maintain success at the club for an extended number of years? Or are we in a win now kind of search. Those questions all dictate on who the new manager will be. If it is Pep, I just hope he doesn't bring Barca's diving and cheating antics to United.
