is it only me that has spotted this? is it pure greed by Hull City website? I think I'll complain to watchdog I need to know a few things, when did the HCFC website cut off Radio Humberside's coverage? it was in the past 2 weeks wasn't it?
My feelings too, Patty. I think it's been 3-4 weeks in fact, and you can't even get it on iPlayer... Trouble is we don't pay for a radio license and the Beeb has to make money to cover for cuts. I think it's **** of the Club to corner it for TigerPlayer.
I'll repeat exactly the same point in case you somehow missed it - YOUR BBC RADIO OUTPUT IS PAID FOR BY THE LICENCE.
Radio Humberside hasn't been able to broadcast football league commentaries on their website for a number of years. They only have rights to broadcast commentaries on their normal radio frequencies. It's the same for all clubs too.

You don't get out of it that easily. It's due to change but the BBC World Service is still funded by the Government not from the license fee, so all UK tax payers fund the expats channel. Mind you, we get them back because sales of BBC products overseas subsidises the licence fee. Never quite felt comfortable with them not broadcasting the football out of the area unless you pay extra money to a private company.
...i d like to pay for real local radio rather than listening to current affairs (ie mainly not-news) about places in a different geographical region South of the River Humber that I have never been to, or will never go to. I know the feelings are mutual in Lincolnshire, so why does our 'local' radio station continue to promote a fictitious geographical region that has no relevance to the vast majority of the inhabitants within those boundaries. Why should some London based, public funded organisation decide which geographical region I receive information & (not) news about. To cap it all, they even block me from listening to my real local (not) news from york, or brid, market weighton, scarboro & whitby! I am a Yorkshireman and that is the region I d choose to know about. There's no such place as Humberside, either geographically or culturally. Local radio as it stands is not about serving the public, it's all about keeping a few over-paid hacks in a job!!
...and yet local radio has one of the biggest budgets. Certainly bigger than radio fours despite the 'regional' programmes sharing resources.

This is really an old topic. You can only listen too the match via live radio, not via a PC. Unless you subscribe to Iplayer. Then not only can you list to the match but you can watch the whole game a couple of days later. You have to keep your PC updated with the latest versions of flash player, but I honestly believe that this is the best way to listen in. OK Burnsey and Swanny can be dire at times but that's the same if you listen to the other teams radio link as well. All in all I think it is right to pay for the service.
The way it's done now is fair enough, it's not a fortune for Tigers Player, but if they are going to do it that way, then they really do need to make sure it works.
Not now you can't, Mel - you can listen to R.Humb right up until the kick-off time and it then shuts down as "unavailable due to contractual arrangements" (or some such similar guff).

That's all very well, Scooter, but here in my rural fastness, my line-speed is less than 1 meg. So - adding that fact to the (oft-reported) pissy uselessness of Tigers Player - I don't think it'll do me any good at all.
The biggest farce in all this is we're being forced to pay extra for a service which is shared by 3 clubs and not exclusive to hull city, now some may see this as a bonus 3 products for one price, but I see it as half a product. The biggest positive though, is now that the bbc have sold the contractual rights for commentary broadcasts to the player, and people will be paying to listen to the hull city commentaries, the bbc must have to pick hull city as the live commentary every game so we should no longer have to listen to the scummy game with live updates from ours. Scummy fans lose put, but who gives a flying ****, the should be covered by bbc Lincolnshire anyway which is exclusive to a non league club. And I think it's pointless having a go at the club, I bet the decision was made by someone high up at bbc hq to sell the commentary rights, and it's probably the same nationwide where all local radio commentaries are broadcast online via player. This will be a great move for some clubs who wernt fortunate enough to have a bloke like dazed stream the commentaries week in week out, now their fans anywhere in the world will be able to know ehats happening as it happens.
You could well be right on that, BS Man - when we played Leicester, BBC Radio Leicester also didn't carry the game.
