I'm really not trying to put you down Silver... Vettel had a fabulous race and anybody that denies that are just blinkered, but you do have a tendency to do exactly what you are complaining at by jumping at other drivers at the first opportunity or playing down their achievements. I understand your enthusiasm and your passion for Vettel and that you shouldn't change, but I do feel you have to reel certain aspects a tad so you don't come across as an un-objective fanboy. Enjoy the moment... soak it in, because as fans these moments can be few and far between, but just do it with a little more tact. I wish I could be enjoying this level of success in my support. Just enjoy it.
Not replying in relation to today, but overall the cream of each of the top 4 has risen to the surface this season... and they are as you would really expect. Today I thought Kimi, Alonso and Vettel were all outstanding and resoundingly beat their teammates today. All in a class of their own. Really wish Hamilton's car hadn't popped as that would have been a true reflection of the top 4 drivers of the season for me. edit: I read this back and really didn't make the point I was going to... Oh well.
yeah, it's a shame Hamilton machinery has failed him so much this year, I think he's driven better this season than any other time in his career, it's a shame he didn't drive like this last year.
Lewis like Vettle has had some terrible reliability and as you say, all in all it would be hard to split him and Vettle for the out n out fastest car/driver combo! They are both 50 points down in reliability alone. As Sgt has said the lead drivers in th top 4 teams hav really showed the way this term.
Hamilton was terrible last season, it was shockingly bad... so despite the bad luck he has suffered this season, I'm just happy to see him driving so well again. We'll see how thing pan out at Mercedes... It's going to be tough but hopefully he can at least score a few podiums and maybe luck in to a win. I do wonder what next year will bring for McLaren though. Button has really struggled to hook it up and then you have Perez coming in to the mix. I just can;t see them doing anything. (though I am usually wrong). 2013 has to be the Alonso/Vettel show, and if Vettel manages to clinch this one and go on and take #4 next season, we really are looking at a true F1 legend. Who'd have thunk it?
2014 would make year 6 for Lewis if he doesn't win the world title. I would laugh at you in 2008 if you said he wouldn't win another WDC in 2-3 years
I guess that's the thing... we never know which way the tide will turn. We can anticipate and predict but success can come quickly and leave as suddenly. (think of Alonso) Which is why I say to enjoy it while you can.
After 2011 Lewis for me had a lot! to prove that he is a worthy WDC from 2008. This year even after all the stick from previous seasons I gave him he has impressed me completely and utterly, the reputation IS NOW! deserved what was hyped back in the ITV days that annoyed me so much all those years ago. He has been very solid, very fast, consistant, great qualifier, a tyre master and he has destroyed Jenson to a pulp. But he is being held back this year by considerable bad luck and McLaren incompetence! and even for a Seb fan who still cant actually take in this GP was real or not......still feels Lewis' performances this season, deserved more in my opinion, he earned his right to be in this title fight until the very end with Alonso and Seb and in a way degree of luck kept Seb and Alonso ahead of Lewis this year. Since Lewis' season is over for another year it's only right to give him a small tribute for the great performances he put in and his fans who stuck with him after that horror show last year. Lewis will win another WDC and he will be the making of Mercedes that I'm sure of!
Thanks! It's been a hard season as a Hamilton fan but like you say, true fans stick with their drivers just as you do, I hope you're right on the Merc side of things. This season really has been about Vettel and Alonso though, I do wish Hamilton could have really gotten in their to make this a 3 way fight of the titans but those two have been incredible. I don't think anybody can complain, no matter who takes the title. It's been a long haul and a fight of epic proportions. I think it will be remembered.
P.P.S I told you Seb had a fiery temper, wow! Thought he was going to get out of that car and beat Ricciardo with the remains of the DRS sign Amazed how quickly he controlled it though, went from 15/10 to about 5/10 within a few seconds. I have never EVER! heard him so angry in that car.
Also, Seb is now only 1 point off when he won the WDC in 2010 with a race to spare. Alonso is 7 points off.
Well for me the Seb vs Senna incident was more of a drivers incident, no driver at fault or innocent but Brundle can stfu saying he got what he deserved since both could of dealt with it better in my opinion. Seb could of been less eager and Senna could of left more room as he knew Seb was on his left. As DC said with the other drivers, you cant just expect the other driver to disappear...
