I think Luck's QB Rating is what is making people mark him down so much. RGIII has been fantastic, but I think their impact has been similar, I mean Luck doesn't have Alfred Morris rushing for 200 yards a game, or the ability to run it 15 times himself a game. From what I have seen Luck has very much had to come in and has been instantly expected to carry the team and make all the throws that your Rodgers, Bradys and Brees' are all expected to, whilst RGIII has come in and has had a bit more of your rookie baby-steps style offense which has suited him perfectly. Although I can't claim to have watched every snap like you, only a couple of games of both, I'm guessing you have Game Pass?

I'm impressed. You guys just watched more football today than I did. Thought you were going to start breaking down 3-4 defenses Chris Collinsworth style.

Does anyone remember back maybe 4 years ago? I think it was back when they still had Saints radio. There was a guy who used to call in somewhat regularly from Dallas. Big Texas drawl. He seemed pretty knowledgable about Saints and soccer, but he could never get more than two sentences in before I guess it was Merrington would start trotting about bad football analogies. Dude would be like "So, I was impressed with Viafara tod---" "Well, it's like football isn't it? You've got an offense and defense, and the defense tries not to let the offense score. That's what Saints need! What you don't want eh.... is to give up a goal or a touchdown."

His QB rating is above 80 after his incredible game today (record for most yards in a game by a rookie, hello!) which will hopefully mean it stops being such a mickey take. His running is extremely underrated, because he doesn't do it often, but when he does, he makes it count. 3 TDs and a number of vital first downs. There's also an interesting stat which is that his average throw attempt is longer than anybody else in the league, such is the nature of a vertical Arians offence.

He has been expected to carry the team and my word, is he doing it. Having been spoiled by arguably the greatest ever for 14 years, Colts fans know a good QB! Reggie has said he thinks Luck has the potential to be better than Peyton which is pretty impressive.

I do have Gamepass and would heavily recommend getting it - I watch pretty much every game every week, the condensed feature means it takes 20-30 minutes to watch a game. It's not the same experience because it's less immersive and you get less of the tactical experience of formations etc, but it's still great.

I did see that stat earlier, pretty congested at the top of that record, Tannehill on 431, Newton 432, Luck 433! And I agree Luck is underrated as an athlete and a runner, but he certainly doesn't have the breakaway get-out-of-trouble ability of RGIII or Vick. I think if Luck had the ability to just tuck it and go, you could probably chalk off a few of his interceptions this year and he'd be right up there with RGIII. And I think Luck definitely has the potential to be great, going to be tough for him to top Peyton but it's high praise from Reggie, but I think that's your classic 'backing up your guy' media comment, however if he really believes that then crikey!

I've definitely been considering splashing out on Game Pass, but I can barely afford Sky let alone dishing out another £150 or whatever it is on Game Pass, but I think I may suck it up and go for it next season.

I don't know about the get out of trouble stuff - the amount of plays where Luck jumps around two or three defenders (love our wet tissue paper o-line) to get a pass off is amazing. Not as explosive as Griffin or Vick but certainly has the ability to get away from pass rushers much akin to Roethlisberger. I'd think it was 'backing up your guy' from anyone other than Reggie, who's known for being a real straight shooter. Didn't pull any punches about the standard of QBs last season and said before the draft that he expected Luck to not be that great.

You can pay for it in installments - £120 for 12 months of every game for the last 3/4 years (inc the amazing condensed feature), NFL Network (great for draft buildup, combine and such) and loads of shows like A Football Life. Well worth it.

The history of awesomely talented NFL QB who could run and throw is somewhat checkered, to say the least. RG III seems to have the mental goods to go with the physical side that some other QB's like that haven't had. And I think he has better touch on the ball and better traditional pocket QB skills than anyone imagined. Definitely the more exciting player to watch and has "revolutionize the game" potential.

But Luck is the closest thing to a no-fail QB the NFL has seen in sometime. Everything a QB is supposed to do-- lead the team, read defenses, throw well, etc. he knows how to do. He was considered a once-in-a-generation type, and it just seems like merely a matter of him getting a bit of experience. Wouldn't surprise me if he joined the Manning/Brady elite territory as soon as next year.

Haha I can't say I ever listened to Saints Radio so never heard it but it sounds brilliant.

Fair play, I had seen his running ability and his impressive showing at the combine, but was not aware of his evasiveness, makes him even more dangerous. And I did love some of the quotes from Reggie last year in regards to the piss poor quality of those throwing to him.

The sound of the condensed feature has convinced me that I think I'll definitely get it next year, sounds fantastic, they should just advertise that from the outset because I've seen a lot of adverts and whatnot for it and never seen anything about it.

That's what a lot of the journalists who watch us regularly are saying - including the likes of Albert Breer and Gregg Rosenthal who say they expect him to be considered top 5 by this time next year. I think that's probably too soon but my fingers are crossed! That said Griffin is amazingly fun to watch - but look at people like Young, Vick, even possibly Newton (maybe even McNabb if you want to stretch the definition of rushing QBs, and I've realised I'm naming black players but they're the best examples...) who all struggle to have sustained success as rushing QBs. Griffin, however, seems far more mature and a sounder character than them, so who knows.

I'm surprised they don't advertise it because it's a great feature. You'll find yourself watching every game every week :p

Yeah I still need to choose a team. My Dad's team is Green Bay Packers - always has been for as long as I can remember.

He went to one of their games in the 80's and so has followed them since.

    HELP ME CHOOSE.

There's only really two choices, the Chiefs or the Jaguars, two most exciting teams in the league by a mile.

    *EDIT*
    Darn...

In all seriousness though, I wouldn't specifically try and pick a team, as then you wont really have that connection, I'd just keep watching until you really fall in love with a team and it becomes obvious that THAT is the team you want to support. Nothing wrong with not being attached to a team and just enjoying the league, so don't hop into bed with any old floozy, wait for your soulmate. ;)

Right, well I'm off in a bit. Operation tomorrow (joy) so hopefully Saints can cheer me up in the evening (likely not to be joy).

I'm having an upper frenectomy in my mouth, glamorous huh?

On the downside I can't eat or frink after 03:30 and I can't even drink water after 7am.

The removal/cutting of the bit of tissue attaching your upper lip to your gum just above the front teeth.

Being done using heat, and a laser!! No idea what to expect, they said they're putting me under general anaesthetic so we shall see.

Oh and they're also looking at removing four teeth too.
