I go back to the flavio/bernie era where they eventually got it right in hiring warnock. Sometimes players/managers don't work out, its that simple. TF has made it too complicated himself to sack him as he has put all his eggs in one basket by handing all control to Hughes.

If he is losing the dressing room as they say, then ask not for whom the bell tolls... (same with Warnock wasn't it?).

As for your first point, I really can't consider tactics for a man who chooses to do battle without a decent sword and shield. Those things were missed to everyone's cost in the summer.

We have indeed but it isn't real, £35,000,000 for a donkey and £50,000,000 for a Spanish one?

Anyway the fact we have an idiot who tries to use NLP on our players in charge really is the pits. Who in the name of **** let it get to this stage?

I'm looking at you fat boy, too much ayam goreng has ****ed up your brain as well as your waist line.

Great post Brix. Thought provoking. Have to disagree with you on this one though. Totally agree with WBA above. MH has had a full pre-season. Picked the players he wanted to buy. Picks the team and formation. We are bottom for a reason. We can't defend at all and we don't score enough. Feel that the players have also let him down badly but I see no progression, no cohesion, no bust a gut determination. Very very disappointed with his overall performance so far. If drawing with the worst team in the league at home shows improvement then we are truely fu**ed.

Wasn't trying to be anything but objective sir.

Are you suggesting that the values called for under the circs is to go off on an irrational one dimensional rant? Thought that was the kind of 'negativity' that keeps making some of our users unwell!

I write stuff simply as food for thought and a trigger for debate, a few logs on the fire if you like, on a cold winter's night.

Nice to see my efforts have warmed you up nicely! Job done then!

Been saying the same since august. Shocking failure to reinforce the defence and wasted his budget on 2 keepers. Add to that he put all his eggs in one basket when dealing with dawson and new nothing about Mbia !! and So signed a player who didn't really want to play for us.

Fuss up to his mistakes quick and sort the tactics and he would of had a second chance from most of us but it hasn't happened and it's unlikey it ever will.

Good thread this Brix with no one going overboard

I do fear for us though. Best collection of players in 30 odd years, a solid and enthusiastic owner and board and cash to spend. All becoming a standing joke

Maybe me wish to go to Barnsley away isn't too far fetched?

Brix, this all sems like Magilton x 10 and backed by Sandy. In the force of the eloquence provided do you still feel it is riskier to get rid then to offload and bring in someone like Arry on a 2 year deal for starters?

By the way Arry would not be my choice but he does have a track record of some sucess from the bottom up.

But we are where we are Brix. I agree Hughes has made mistakes with the squad etc, but the least he could do is play the right team in the right formation. He is out-witted week in and week out by all the other managers. Our strength is our midfield.....play to it ffs. They will get enough possession to give Cisse the chances he needs, cos as he showed today, give him chances and he will score goals.

Agree totally, but, and it's a big but, every time we have to defend a corner or free kick we look likely to concede a goal!

Don't want anyone to presume I'm an apologist for Mark Hughes. Geezer's ****ed up big time, no doubt about that.

But what I am saying is careful what you wish for on this one. In failing to balance our squad right he's left us in a pile of **** whichever way you look at it. That's been the case all season, and it's up to him to dig us out.

What I'm also saying is that I see signs he's doing what he can (albeit without the necessary tools) to limit the damage - but the rub's clearly not there atm. Keeper managing to tip Granero's brilliant free kick on to the bar is just one of many examples today.

Put those two things together and what's to say our luck will change by swapping managers? From a business angle, what's the point of paying through the nose to kill one contract and buy another. Devil you know warts and all, or devil you don't?

I think Brix the point is that Hughes having made the mistakes at the start of the season now seems incapable of turning it around. Surely that's clear to see?

A new man 'might' bring in the magic as o'neill did for Sunderland last season

On balance I say go for it. It's not about luck it's about getting the best out of the situation we're in and I for one can't see Hughes doing that

One of my purposes with this thread was to show that you can go against the flow of current opinion without getting silly and personal in the process.

People can disagree with a view put by me all they like and it won't be me that locks antlers and does a big walk out. I'll field whatever comes my way and be back tomorrow with an opposing view if I feel like it. Forums are about reason and argument, not individuals and egos. The winning points in such debate (whether mine or anyone else's) become clear as the thread goes on. No 'told you so's necessary.

We'll see if it works eh?!! (couple more for Col !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Look what an immediate impact Harry had when spurs were on 6 points.I dont think there are any other candidates that could come in and turn it round quickly. He motivates players and players want to play for him.We probably get Defoe and Dawson in Jan too!

Have to say this is a great thread Brix, certainly a mix of thoughts going on.

For me I am still (just about) supporting Hughes. We have faced quite a few of not only the usual bigger sides in the league, but also the ones who have had a storming start to the season, and bar Swansea we have played well in spells and in some games deserved more.

Now there are loads of reasons why we havent got more, and Hughes has made some right cock ups along the way, but as Brix said there are signs of life in the side. Today wasnt great (as I said in my report) and does give alot to worry about but the grass is not always greener.

Who is to say a new manager will do any different? Chopping and changing got us no where in the Championship did it. We all said Flavio was a muppet (and alot worse) for sacking managers every few months and tbh some on here are exactly the same at times. Stability is key to successful teams - look at Man U, Arsenal, Everton as good examples, and even Stoke with Pulis.
