I hate this new "rule" that if you win the ball with 1 foot then catch the player with the 2nd it's suddenly a foul. What are you meant to do with your other leg? It follows your body and naturally is going to come through! 5-10 years ago it was a perfect challenge, win the ball then take the man and let them know you are there. Tackling is becoming a dying art and soon we'll be down to no contact, automatical yellow for a foul and boring games that end 7-5 because players are too afriad to tackle.
Don't think this is a game for Joe Allen, especially with us being down, hell bring assaidi on for him, put suso in the hole with Gerrard and Sahin behind.
Then he needs to help create a little more, after all BR said he was magnificent going forward as well. Well let's ****ing see it then.
Good effort from Suarez. Another corner that yet again not one of our players gets near. How can players play 60 yard passes and land it at the players feet, but when it comes to corners they cant pick out a of 6 red shirts in the box?
The way he has been playing the last few weeks, I wouldn't have let him play tonight. His poor form has continued and I pray he gets benched next week.
We need to start to push and I want to see the body language change to we can do this and not just hands in the air if something goes array.
Please, Gerrard has not been playing poorly. He just can't last 90mins as he used to. Would rather take Allen off and sit Gerrard deeper with Shelvey/Sahin ahead of him.
I recall him giving the ball away 36 times in one game a few weeks ago. If that is not a poor performance, I don't know what is.
ref waves play on, Newcastle played puts his hand on the ball. Surely that's a free kick to us? The ref decides when it's a free kick and not the player!
And at the same time, he usually creates about 36 attacking moves. He plays a higher risk, direct game to what BR plays. Or would you rather have Allen and never move the ball outside our own half?
