KentPolice Football ‏@kentpolicefooty The FA Cup draw is live on ITV at 2:40 pm, #gills are number 22. Who do people want to play? @TheGillsFC @brb_gfc This thread will be closed once the draw is made, if someone creates a further thread.
If its away I would like a local one for me like Alfreton town or Mansfield if its at home then I wouldnt mind Sheffield United. I know its hard but I would love for us to inflict some more pain on them.
Not sure who I'd like us to get. Obviously the easier the better and hopefully get a plum tie in the 3rd round. But - I'd imagine every other team in the comp will NOT want to draw us Whether they are above or below us in the leagues.
I think we can beat anyone at the moment with whatever line up Martin Allen decides to use! A non league team away in Round 2 will probably give us a TV game!!
1 Oldham Athletic 2 Brentford 3 Chelmsford City 4 Crawley Town 5 Luton Town Or Nuneaton Town 6 Notts County 7 Hastings United 8 Fleetwood Town 9 Port Vale 10 Harrogate Town 11 AFC Bournemouth 12 Morecambe Or Rochdale 13 Macclesfield Town 14 Cambridge City Or Milton Keynes Dons 15 Cheltenham Town 16 Dorchester Town Or Plymouth Argyle 17 Coventry City 18 York City Or AFC Wimbledon 19 Bury 20 Chesterfield 21 Doncaster Rovers 22 Gillingham 23 Aldershot Town 24 Lincoln City Or Walsall 25 Alfreton Town 26 Southend United 27 Crewe Alexandra 28 Sheffield United 29 Hereford United 30 Mansfield Town Or Slough Town 31 Oxford United 32 Rotherham United 33 Accrington Stanley 34 Gloucester City Or Leyton Orient 35 Burton Albion Or Altrincham 36 Guiseley Or Barrow 37 Northampton Town Or Bradford City 38 Preston North 39 Braintree Town Or Tranmere Rovers 40 Carlisle United
Tough game. Long journey. Ninth in League One. Need to win and not draw, bringing them back to Priestfield will just be counter productive on our league priorities.
It is probably one of the worst draws we could have other than Sheffield United, what a shame we had to draw Preston, home may have been fine but away, no!
Greetings from the North, interesting game, for those lucky enough to venture north will probably only cost you a tenner to get in, that is what was charged yesterday. Bring some warm clothing with you Preston is very cold in December
don't mind who we play, it will be a good test of where we as a club are at right now against another div 1 team. one thing that is evident from our clubs point of view is that from 24th nov-8th dec. we have three away matches in a row now vs Accrington stan, Preston n/e, Rotherham, very tough couple of weeks on the road and then a home game vs Fleetwood followed by another away trip to York...very telling and tough games coming up for Gillingham fc. lets hope maddog can keep them pumped up going into next year.....COYG !!!
The words 'in December' are superfluous!!! Nice city though, and the once every 20 years Preston Guild will still (just) be going, so anyone with a bit of interest in the culture of an ancient and historical town might like to try and arrive as early as possible (I guess not travelling on supporters club coaches though) to have a look round before the match. Interesting match, and as gills4everandaday says, a good test in a run of fairly long distance away games. Looking forward to getting to this one.
The outlaws are Preston supporters so it is quite a good tie for banter purposes. It'll be a very good marker to see how well we can compete in the league above.
Preston away brings back memories when we going up the leagues together under Pulis. We should be playing them again next season.
