Interesting indeed, reading between the lines you get the feeling that, like some of the players he's signed, MH would rather be at a bigger club, however, offered bucketloads of money by TF he's happy(?) to bide his time and, hopefully, make progress with us. Somehow, he might just be getting his answer by 3.30 this afternoon...
Hi Northy. Writing as someone that is immersed in statisitics and KPIs for most of my working life, I find all this ProZone/GPS stuff really fascinating. The danger is in making it the be all and end all of everything. Fortunately, the article balances this stuff with mention of the recruitment of flair players and visual wossnames. Spunky and his backroom team need to be aware that there is such a thing as analysis paralysis, whereby you're awash with data to the extent that you don't know what to do. You have to separate the wheat from the chaff. The most important part of the KPI acronym is the K. There's no point in having thirty 'key' performance indicators, as 'key' they therefore ain't. I would love to be a fly on the wall during one of his team talks or feedback sessions to see how all this stuff is fed back to the players. Let's face it, most footballers will struggle to tie their bootlaces, so I trust the Spunkster doesn't bother them too much with stats.
What's happened to a manager who can look at the bleedin' obvious, ie what happens on the pitch, and select the best team from that? 90% of us on here know our best line-up, yet MH rarely ever starts with it. SWP contributes sweet FA yet always starts. Beam me up...
What I don't understand is how TF can back him to the hilt and say he's one of the best managers around??? That's madness. Absolutely no justification which makes TF look like a half-wit. I don't care how technical, meticulous, methodical MH is. If the players aren't receptive to his methods, then he's as useless as t*ts on a bull.
