Congratulations to the U18s for qualifying for the top flight of Academy football for 2013!

Great to see the youth team excelling and I can't wait to see some of the youngsters make the step up!

All looks promising, obviously harder to see the talent deeper in the engine of the team in defence and midfield from scorelines and limited highlights, but the goalscorers definitely seem to have a bit of talent!

Good, hopefully we'll soon be invited to the Champions league u19 (think it's called the elite development tournament) and then we'll really get to test our academy against the likes of barca, ajax and sporting Lisbon.

Unfortunately we will have to qualify for the actual Champions League for that to happen. There is a different tournament set-up by a couple of English chaps (I believe one is on the board at Brentford) called the NextGen Series which is also U19 and features a lot of big clubs right now, and is more focused on inviting acadamies of actual quality, which we might have had a good chance of getting into especially with it having a bit of an English bias. Unfortunately, UEFA is a creating a U19 Champions League specifically to crush the NextGen Series and push them out of business, (I believe that they are going to insist that clubs partake in one or the other and not both, at which point the big clubs will pull away to UEFA and the NGS will crumble), and like I said the clubs invited to that will only be ones that qualify for the actual Champions League. So in other words... Maybe in a couple years. :p

Well hopefully it weathers the storm against UEFA! It currently has Aston Villa in it, and they are on a fairly steep decline so might find themselves out of it pretty soon, so I dare say we may be in with a shout of replacing them if our youth teams do well and we move a few places up the table in the big boy league. I do worry that the Barca, Ajax, Inter etc. acadamies would give our boys a good seeing to though!

Though I have only seen a couple of games I have been impressed by the youngsters. Some of them even know how to trap and kick the ball with both feet.

To be fair some are very good. Just that we don't seem to get the good ones very often.

At the moment, I don't want them to be good....I want them to be totally biased in our favour. :)

    I can accept that.

Can see it now, lambert nets his fourth goal that didn't cross the line tomorrow night to score Saints 7th of the night and all seven in right end.
